Make a Mickey Shirt

November 21, 2012 By Michelle Barneck 2 Comments

This Mickey shirt literally took me a few minutes and was so easy! I used Silhouette heat transfer and used my craft cutter to make a Mickey using a free image I found online. Then just iron it on and you are good to go!

Make a Mickey Shirt

I got the t-shirts at the dollar store and here’s the comical part they only had size 3T in this color, but it fit both my four year old and my two year old. We lovingly refer to them as stick and brick.

I did find that the gray heat transfer was a bit more temper mental than the black and white. I had to go over it with the iron several times especially on the edges to get it to adhere properly.

Sorry for the less than optimal phone pic.

I love the simplicity and had multiple tourists at Disneyland ask where we got them. It was one of our most popular shirts from the trip (we made 13 shirts), second only to the Tangled shirts that will be debuting next month.

November 14, 2012 By Michelle Barneck 10 Comments

A Disney trip is definitely something to look forward to so we created a fun countdown to turn up the excitement, but also help prepare us for the trip. I saw this fun Disney countdown and put my own spin on it.

DISNEY COUNTDOWN

Each chain link on the Disney countdown had an activity for the day. You can download the printable Disney countdown activity list here.
  1. Color a Disney picture
  2. Which 3 characters do you most want to meet?
  3. Make Disney characters out of playdough
  4. Play Disney scene it
  5. Choose a light up toy for parades & fireworks
  6. Sing your favorite Disney song
  7. Write a letter to your favorite Disney character
  8. Play Disney games on the computer
  9. Dress like pirates and dance to yo ho a pirate’s life for me & the jake & the neverland pirates theme song
  10. Make mickey oreos
  11. Find the hidden mickeys around the house (cut them out with my cricut and hung them around the basement)
  12. Make a Disney water bottle
  13. Watch Disney videos on you tube
  14. Play Disneyland or rush on xbox Kinect
  15. Make tags for the stroller and luggage
  16. Name the 3 rides you are most looking forward to.
  17. Make mickey mousse.
  18. Have a Disney Pajama party and watch a Disney movie.
  19. What should we do if we get lost? Make tattoos with phone number.
  20. Make mickey pancakes
The kids loved having fun activities everyday and I loved that it kept me on task to get some trip preparations done in advance. This really did create a great atmosphere in our home before leaving on our trip!

Inspired by:
Mickey Mousse We used Oreo pudding and added the chocolate mickey on top.
Mickey Oreos We used Nerds for buttons.

DIY Disney Tattoos for Kids

November 7, 2012 By Michelle Barneck 19 Comments

With two curious little boys I was nervous that one of them would get lost in the crowds at Disneyland. They aren’t quite old enough to know their phone number, so I decided tattooing it right on them would be the next best thing. I created fun Disney themed tattoos for kids using free images, a little creative wording, and some Silhouette’s printable tattoo paper.
Tattoos for Kids
I put the tattoos on the inside of their forearm so my phone number would not be broadcast, but would be there if needed.
Our tattoos for kids read as follows:
  • Lightning McQueen: If I’m driving solo please call…#
  • Finn McMissile: If I made a stealthy getaway, please call #
  • Peter Pan: If I’m a lost boy, please call…#
  • Nemo: If my dad is looking for me, please call #
  • Pirate Mickey: If you found our little treasure call #
Here is the template I used to create tattoos for each day. It used a half sheet of tattoo paper and just printed them right on following package directions.

Peter Pan Family Costume

October 31, 2012 By Michelle Barneck 1 Comment

Happy Halloween
from Hook, Smee, Peter, and Tiger Lily!

For our Disney DIY this week we made a Smee costume for Dad. Just buy a white t-shirt and add blue stripes with painters tape and fabric paint. Throw in some blue shorts, sandals, and a red beanie. Cut sideburns out of cotton rounds and safety pin them to the beanie. We forgot to move his glasses on the end of his nose for the picture. Voila, instant Smee!
Wednesdays through January!
