30 Candy Free Valentines for Kids

January 30, 2016 By Michelle Barneck 3 Comments

Valentines Day is such a fun day for kiddos, but can be not so fun for parents dealing with them hopped up on sugar or for those kiddos who might have food allergies. I hate to have kids feel left out on Valentine’s Day so I scoured the web for the best allergy free valentines that are both easy and cute. I have tons of friends whose kids have food sensitivities and in my sons class there is a peanut allergy, gluten allergy, and red dye allergy.  I can’t wait to share this collection of 30 candy free valentines for every kind of kid!

Hot Chocolate Ornament Gift Idea

November 21, 2014 By Michelle Barneck 3 Comments

I love a simple and unique gift idea. Something you can use that is dressed up just right. Whether giving or receiving, it makes your mouth curve in to a smile and you feel a little warm fuzzy inside. You know what else make you feel warm inside? Hot Chocolate. Who doesn’t love curling up with a mug of steaming chocolate on a cold day?! Pair that with a holiday icon (the ornament) to make these Hot Cocoa ornaments and you’ve got a winner for a feel good gift idea!Hot Cocoa Ornaments

I saw this idea of putting drinks in ornaments and thought why not take it a step further and use the ornaments to hold the mix as well! Just grab a funnel and fill the ornaments with crushed candy canes, hot chocolate mix, and mini marshmallow bits. Attach little snowflake clips or ribbon tied in to bows to dress them up a bit. Place them in a box with paper shreds to cushion them and  include a few striped paper straws tied with twine.

Hot Chocolate Gift Idea #ornaments

Include a picture of the ornaments as glasses in the box so recipients know they can not only use the ingredients to make hot chocolate, but the ornaments to drink from too! You may want to warn them that the hot chocolate should be warm, but not scalding if drinking from a glass ornament and not a mug.

Tie up the gift box with some cute twine, add a little embellishment, and you are good to go. A super cute hot chocolate ornament gift perfect for neighbors, friends, or teachers that takes only minutes to put together!

Christmas Gift Idea #wrap

Pair the hot chocolate ornaments with a blanket and a thermos of hot water for a cozy date night too!

Glitter Candle Gift Idea #MadeWithMichaels

November 13, 2014 By Michelle Barneck 33 Comments

Michaels sent me a gift card and a list of Pinterest inspired projects with a challenge to make my own holiday DIY project. I saw this glitter candle and knew it would translate in to a great gift idea for my little guy’s preschool teacher. I chose to do a winter spin on the glitter candle gift so she can keep it out through January and it will keep her classroom looking cute and smelling great!

Easy Glitter Candle Gift idea

ITEMS NEEDED:

  • Ashland Jar Candle
  • Recollections Glass Glitter
  • Mod Podge Matte
  • Foam Brush
  • Paper Plate
  • Celebrate It Satin Ribbon (Pewter)
  • Wood Snowflake Ornament
  • Scissors

Glitter Candle Gift Supplies

Pour a good amount of glitter on to a paper plate and spread to cover the bottom. I love how this glass glitter is almost like tiny mosaic tiles and really shines!

Blue Glitter

Using a foam brush, paint one side of the jar with a coat of mod podge. Roll that side of the candle in the glitter and let it dry. Repeat for the other side. Tie a ribbon around the neck of the jar, thread the ornament on to the ribbon and tie a bow to secure.

 Glitter Candle Gift Idea

This is such a simple project with a big impact! We’ll be gifting this glitter candle to his teacher with a note that says, “Being in your class is ‘snow’ much fun!”

You can join the party at your local Michaels store on November 15th from 1-4 p.m. to create your own top holiday Pinterest craft! It should be a lot of fun!

Fall Burlap Subway Art Printable with My Daylights

August 27, 2014 By Michelle Barneck 8 Comments

Hi there! I’m really excited to be a guest here at A Little Tipsy. I’m Jennifer from My Daylights where I share a little bit of everything-recipes, crafts, a little DIY, thoughts, book reviews, and my very favorite thing, Printables.

Walking down the aisles at craft stores and some retail stores, I have to honestly say that I breathe a sigh of relief to see the fall items on the shelves. While there are definitely some fun aspects to summer, I am honestly not in love with it! I am not a fan of the heat. At all! Which is why Fall is amazing. It’s beautiful, it’s crisp, it’s cooler, and it has one of my favorite holidays-Halloween. My husband is always joking each year that we can’t possibly add one more fall decoration to our home and I take great pride in proving him wrong!

One of the easiest ways to decorate is with printables. Just print them out, throw them in a cute frame, and voila! Instant decor that’s easy to change out and move around. I have loved seeing all of the burlap items around the stores.

Burlap has such great texture and adds a special charm to any decor. Because I love it so much, I decided to create a printable that looks like it’s burlap. It’s easier than painting or getting the little burlap fibers everywhere.

The printable has some of my favorite words for fall, including a fun pumpkin.

It’s an 8×10 and works best being printed either on premium photo paper or premium presentation paper.

I hope it’s a nice compliment to your Fall Decor this year. If you like this, pop on over to my blog for more fun posts like the ones below! Click on the pictures to be taken to the posts.
