Today let’s round up those DVDs. I have had this set up for a while, but I get a lot of comments on it so I thought I would share. It stores all our DVDs and doubles as a display center for all our souvenirs from our travels. I bought these Atlantic brand boxes years ago at Wal-mart for $3 each. I looked all over the internet, but unfortunately could not find them. (that does not mean that you can’t just that in my limited search time I didn’t) Good news is if you have a handy guy they would probably be fairly easy to make.

They came in a set of two boxes that hook together like these for $3. We have 8 sets.

You could even line up deep shadow boxes on the wall for an alternative. Or, what about cute shelves with bookends?

Anyone else have ideas for DVD storage?

I don’t really like to live inside the box necessarily, but with a 15 month old sometimes that’s what is called for. I used to have this end table all to myself, but with a climber on the loose nothing is safe. Enter my new friend Mr. Tupperware, we’ll call him Mr. T for short. Now I have a body guard for all those “personal” things (No, not those things.) Things like pens, to do lists, camera cords, treats, remotes, basically anything you want to keep from the little one who has claimed everything else. One of those nice looking organizing boxes would be great, there’s only one problem. My guy can get in to those pretty ones. It’s only the airtight muscle using ones that work in this house. So I will deal with the aesthetics for now if it means corralling all my “needs” into one compact baby safe.

See how he just knows when Mr. T is open. He was up there peering in in the 30 seconds it took me to take the two previous pictures.

Lucky for you I made you a pretty one. Yes, the fancy foo one in the drawing is the perfect size for your very own kid corral! (no, your kids will not fit in to it, but your bag of Cadbury eggs will!) Someday soon I will make mine pretty too!

You all know what I am talking about. Those socks that go in to the wash as a pair and somehow come out alone. I hate folding socks. I hate matching them, I hate how they get stretched out at the top after so many times being rolled to keep them together.

I have learned many things from my mother, but this little trick is one of them. Use a safety pin and pin them together. (Don’t use the gold ones, they eventually leave a rusty mark) So simple, yet such a profound difference it makes! My mom keeps them in a jar, but i take it one step further and use a magnetic pin cushion. We keep one in each room. We take the pin out and put it on the cushion in the morning and take our socks off and pin them back together for the laundry at night.
