Rocky Mountain Moms Blog

November 4, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 2 Comments

Hi there!
Just wanted to let you know that my very first post is up over at Rocky Mountain Moms Blog today! I am now a contributor over there and you will be able to find me ranting a couple of times a month. My posts over there will be a bit different, just talking about all my crazy mommy moments. Hmmm. Maybe they aren’t so different. 😉 Anyway, come visit me if you like!

Here is a little teaser…

I’m sure you have all done it. Traipsed out with gleeful ideas of the errands you were going to run and the angel your toddler was going to be while you doled out your coupons and debated between brands. Then, reality sets in and you find yourself struggling with one arm around your wriggling kids waist, the other full of boxes or bags and someone giving you “the look” for making a disturbance. Wordful Wednesday-He Wasn’t Asleep

November 4, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 7 Comments

We recently took the wall off of the little one’s crib. We did not hear him get up from his nap. He was like a stealth tiger. We found him like this.

He found mommy’s make up and nail polish. He is pretty talented if I do say so myself! He got mascara on his lashes without getting it in his eyes! He got red on his cheeks and nose, black on his eyes and bronzer lightly dusted everywhere. He’s a natural. Lucky for us, the only polish on the tile was clear! There were a few drops of red on the rug, but was from Walmart and I was toying with replacing it anyway. Nothing permanent on the cabinets, floor or his clothes.

This is halfway through the clean up process when we realized he had painted the inside of his ear. This is when I called poison control just in case. They said we would know if he had swallowed anything because it would burn his mouth and said not to use nail polish remover because it might give him a rash. A bath, Vaseline, a whole bunch of scratching and a day later, he was back to normal.

November Visiting Teaching Handout

November 2, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 11 Comments

This month there is not a set message for Visiting Teaching. We are supposed to prayerfully choose a talk from October General Conference. There were so many amazing messages and it was really hard to choose! I finally decided on the talk on the “ity” virtues by Bishop H. David Burton the Presiding Bishop. I love this message of letting virtue garnish your thoughts. Maybe I am biased because I am in YW and we got the new value of Virtue this year. Anyway, here is my VT Handout for November! I hope you like it!

I did the word cloud using Wordle. It is a fun little site that does all the work for you!

The quotes’ font is Hello Sark from Kevin and Amanda.

Ok, I have to brag again. My October handout was spotted on my Aunt Brenda’s (technically aunt-in-law) fridge and her cute daughter, Lindsay, printed out FIVE for her visiting teaching. She was doing her roommates VT for them which is why she needed five. She is super awesome and kind like that! Plus, I got so many wonderful comments from you ladies out there saying you are using and loving them! Yay! That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

Happy Halloween-M&M bag costume

October 31, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 17 Comments

I whipped up this little M&M bag costume when I decided at the last minute that it would be fun to have our little one match us. I made it by blowing up a picture of an M&M bag and modge podge/taping it to a black plastic bag that I trimmed to look like the edge of an M&M bag. I even photoshopped the image to say Net wt. 27 lbs.

I also covered a baseball cap with plastic bag and glued M&Ms to it to look like the “bag” spilled. I had a basketball Easter basket that perfectly matched the orange in the peanut butter M&Ms bag so we threw that in the mix too.

Oh, and I got our M&M costumes for $3 each at a garage sale. Score!
