Hi there! I’m Linda from Craftaholics Anonymous and I’m stoked to be swapping with Michelle today. Love her blog!!

Michelle had a quick interview for me:
What is your favorite crafting tool or secret weapon?

Definitely my fabric measuring tape!! I’m always measuring something round or curved and this flexible measuring tape works perfectly to get an accurate measurement.

What is the funniest costume you ever had for Halloween?
I grew up in Northern Utah where it snows almost every Halloween. And every year, except one, I was a Princess and wore a dress. But after my mom was done putting snow pants, thermals, a hat and gloves on, I sure didn’t look much like a dainty Princess any more!! 🙂

What is your favorite day of the week?
Tuesday. Because it means I got past Monday!!

Another fav project of mine is my Mod Podged Handbag. I gave my $1 thrift store bag a facelift with some pretty paper:

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cupcakes

Here’s a fun little Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cupcake recipe that is pretty darn healthy (I think it’s like 1 weight watchers point, no I am not on Weight Watchers, but my former co-workers who were loved these) and ridiculously easy! Oh, and did I mention yummy! My husbands co-workers (aka computer geeks) loved these!

Ingredients:
1 box spice cake
1 small can Pumpkin
1/2 bag of chocolate chips

Mix it up, put in cups and bake for 22 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. This will make about 20ish pumpkin cupcakes depending on how big you make them.
Easy peasy. Seriously, if you mess this one up I don’t know what to tell you!

I put them in paper cups, but also borrowed this awesome pumpkin shaped pan from my sis. I think she may have purchased it at Ikea?

I added a little green frosting swirl to the pumpkin shaped ones. I did not have an fall themed plated so I used two of the generic ones to make a little container and drew a pumpkin on top with markers.

Hmmm. I gave them all away. Maybe I need to make more. 🙂

Mirror Makeover

Mirror, mirror on the wall who did the spookiest mirror makeover of all? I found this Golden beauty at a garage sale for a whole 50 cents. Yes, you read it right, 50 cents! Was the seller blind to its fabulous character? Apparently. I had grand plans to paint it some wild color, but that took a backseat to the Halloween spirit oozing from it. We had to take a detour to a dark place.

That made great strides, but it still needed a little something to push it over the edge. Enter the spider webs and a little friend my little one and I made (tutorial for spider) and it has just the right sense of “look in to me and you may see someone else in the mirror with you.” It reminds me of the Haunted mansion at Disneyland. Where we get to go next month. Yay!!!

Halloween Monster Menu Plan

If you are like me the fun food is as much for you as it is for the kiddos. I love doing themed food and Halloween is prime time for food with a spooky theme. I found a whole bunch of totally easy recipes to keep your family on their toes this week. I especially love that I had many of the ingredients on hand so my shopping list was short!

Here’s the Monster Menu Plan, mix and match as you please! I added any tips from things I did differently from the original recipes.

1. Ham & Cheese Pumpkins from Woman’s Day
I used cube ham instead of slices because that is what I had so I could use it for the mummy pizzas too. The pumpkins would be way easier to seal with slices.

I added in a spaghetti squash poked to look like a Jack-o-lantern. If you have not tried it, give it a whirl. We LOVE it at my house!

2. Pumpkin shaped bread bowls from the Idea Room filled with savory Pumpkin Soup
I dyed too much dough green so I improvised and made leaves.

Pumpkin Soup (recipe from my sister, not sure where she got it)
4 T butter
1/3 Cup flour
1 grated onion
4 Cups water
4 Chicken bouillon cubes
1 16 oz. can pumpkin
1 1/2 t. salt
1 1/3 t. lemon juice
1/4 t. pepper
1/4 t. nutmeg
2 2/3 cups half and half

In large pan melt butter and stir in flour.
Add onion and bouillon dissolved in water.
Stir until smooth and thick.
Add everything else except half and half.
Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally.
Let simmer 15 minutes.
Add half and half and heat through but do not boil.

This pumpkin soup is so easy and so yummy! The leftovers are just as good as the first day!

3. Mummy Pizzas
We have been making bagels pizzas for years, but never thought to use string cheese strips. I add a layer of cream cheese to the bagel before the sauce and put a pepperoni over the hole so the toppings don’t fall through.

4. Spaghetti and Eyeballs from mommy23Monkeys
I know this link is broken, but I am hoping it will come back so you can see it. Just put olive slices on meatballs to make eyes. This was my little guys favorite!! We paired it with Bones n Blood from Our Best Bites.

5. Mummy Dogs
We used this for a dinner we had to eat in the car while taking daddy to a class. Be sure to cook them until browned well. Ours were a bit doughy. 6. Mummy Meatloaf from Gourmet Mom on the Go
Have not tried this one yet, but totally plan to!
