Girls Camp Craft Idea: Ribbon Bracelets

June 14, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 12 Comments

My YW and I made these bracelets a few months ago to give at New Beginnings, but they would be a super easy craft for girls camp too!

We wanted the bracelets to have a message to tie in with this year’s mutual theme so the girls chose to have them say “find the courage within.”

Supplies needed:
Ribbon-YW value colors
Brad (optional)
Adhesive velcro
Label Maker with tape
Scissors
Lighter (to melt the ribbon ends)

This ribbon bracelet was adapted from a bracelet on I Never Grew Up. She has a tutorial.

I had a hard time finding ribbon with the YW colors. There was rainbow ribbon, but I spent a summer in San Francisco and did not the girls running around giving the wrong idea (the rainbow is the universal sign for gay). I took creative license and bought a ribbon that had most of the colors and then bought a brad that filled in the missing colors (Purple, Sparkles used for gold). I liked the extra bling the brad added.

Then, we just printed the saying on labels and stuck them on the inside of the ribbon bracelet. We had to trim them a little to get them to fit just right.

Easy peasy, economical, cute!

I got my ribbon in the Robert’s Craft gift wrap section. The brads were from Robert’s too.

Feature Friday-Blog Swap with Happy Together

June 11, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 8 Comments

Photobucket

Hi everyone 🙂 My name is Jessica from Happy Together and I have the pleasure of blog swapping with Michelle today.

Anthropologie Inspired Refashion

I am blessed to be able to live my dreams by staying home with my daughter and being able to use my creative talents. I share on my blog mostly crafty things with lots of tutorials and the occasional other things sprinkled in. I also have an Etsy shop where patterns I make are for sale as well as other things like headbands for your cutie pie. Today I wanted to share a simple tutorial to make a trimmings bracelet.

Trim Bracelets

I thought of this when I was trying to come up with something to do with small pieces of trims/ribbons I would have left over from projects.

They are quick to make and require no jewelry making experience. Here we go……

Let’s Begin

Start by gathering what you need:
-Leftover trims, ribbons, etc. at least 8″ long
-Scissors
-Embroidery Thread
-Needle
-Clasp (I used toggle clasps)
-Glue and/or heat sealing instrument (candle, wood burning tool)

Cut the ribbons and trims to be about 8 inches. You can measure your wrist and change this if needed, but I made it so it had extra room on my wrist but not enough to fall off.

I always heat seal with a candle flame.

All Done! Enjoy them or share them with someone. Maybe even just decorate a cup.

Blue Bracelet

I enjoyed having the opportunity to share with the all of the readers here at A Little Tipsy. Stop by and visit from time to time 🙂

——————————————————————-

Isn’t she adorable?! How fun are these bracelets for summer! Thanks Jessica for swappin’ it up with me today!

George Foreman Next Grilleration Jumbo Grill Review (CSN Stores)

June 10, 2010 By Michelle Barneck Leave a Comment

Happy Birthday to me from CSN Stores! I got my Next Grilleration George Foreman Jumbo Grill in the mail! This baby is the best. Want to know why, read on!

George Foreman Next Grilleration Jumbo Grill in Platinum - GRP99

  • Adjustable temperature, she’s hot on multiple levels!
  • Adjustable timer, especially important for me because I forget how long things have been cooking.
  • Removable, dishwashable plates! Heaven!
  • Big grilling surface for multiple servings. I swear you can fit like 5 chicken breasts on that thing!
  • Cooks fast! With heat on both sides it cooks through evenly and quick!
  • You can literally watch fat drip away! Bye Bye extra calories!
  • 2 year warranty
  • Who doesn’t love a nice sleek platinum/black combo.
We have owned and loved this grill since we got married 6 years ago. So why, why did we need a new one? Well, we were lazy and would put the plates back on to the grill without taking it off of the cupboard shelf and after 5 years of sliding those plates over that poor little sensor button under the bottom plate the little wire disconnected and we killed the poor dear. We have mended our ways and will not be so lazy as to not actually fully open the grill to replace the dishwashed plates. This is a fair warning to all. Repent ye of your slothfulness. 😉

Ok, so you are probably feeling a little grossed out about my love for this appliance (we have been having dinner together for 5+years now). Kind of like sitting in the room with an engaged couple all starry eyed and smoochy. I would recommend it to anyone, but will get on with the review.

It may seem a bit pricey at first glance ($100) but trust me, it’s worth it!

A big thanks to CSN stores for my fab new grill! They have been super to work with and were great to help me with any questions I had. I am a big time online shopper so I love that they have everything from sofas and luggage to Cookware and Office Supplies. Their customer service was top notch and I look forward to shopping with them again!

FTC Disclosure: I was provided the grill for review from CSN stores, but have paid full price for one before and would do it again!

Also, The winner of the $25 Fibers.com voucher is Msilba! Congrats!

Birthday Freebies

June 9, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 24 Comments

It’s my b-day! I am the big 3-0!

(or shall I say 29 and holding, though if I am going to hold, why not make it 25?)

30<span class=

I know, freakish huh. But, this week I have been celebrating with free stuff. I found a list of places with free stuff for birthdays a while back, signed up on a few and forgot about it until the freebies started rolling in. Here is some of the stuff I got.

Free meal from Noodles and Company

Free dinner from Benihana

B1G1 Blizzard from Dairy Queen

B1G1 Dinner at Medieval Times

Free Blue Ray DVD and 25 points from Disney Movie Rewards

I already enjoyed my Blizzard last week, Noodles & Co for lunch, and will be heading to Benihana soon! There is also a free shake from Iceberg drive in this year on your birthday with proof of birth date. Can’t pass that up!

I could not remember where I found my list, but here is one that is similar if you want a mailbox or email box full of fun free stuff on birthday week.

Birthday Freebies List from Hey It’s Free

BTW it is also the bday of Donald Duck (looking great for 76), Johnny Depp (please let me look this good at 47), and my cute friend Camille!
