Silly Straw Glasses

I just saw these straw glasses over on Groopdealz today. Aren’t they hilarious?! So fun for a little party or just a silly photo op. My little guy would go nuts over these. Anyhow, they are only $3.25 a pair if you find your self needing a few.

DIY Under $5 {Western Gift}

I’m late, I know. But, I have a good excuse. Today is my anniversary. That’s right, 7 years ago today the love of my life took me by the hand and we have been walking through this journey called life together ever since. (It’s also my sister’s anniversary, my dads birthday and my favorite cousin’s anniversary. Phew, popular day!)

When it comes to love I can be a total cheeseball. Those disgusted by themeyness please exit to the right because this will make you cringe. For realsies, skiddadle, fair warning.

We have a little place here in Salt Lake called the Anniversary Inn. It has a whole bunch of rooms decorated in a sense to bring a little adventure in to your lives. A couple of years ago, for instance, we stayed in the Treasure Island suite. This year (somewhat due to booking last week) we chose the Jackson Hole suite. We’re talkin’ sleeping in a covered wagon and showering in water piped through bottles tipped over on shelf. HILARIOUS!

Anyway, I ran with it and made the hubs a little Wild West themed gift to take along.

Make a Memory {The Red Plate}

Here we are, week 11 of the Make a Memory series. Each Monday through Labor Day I will feature a special family tradition from one of my favorite bloggers. It is so important to create lasting memories with our families and this will be a fun way to get ideas for fun traditions we can start with our own families. So let’s dive right in and see how Tam from Sew Dang Cute Crafts and her family make a memory!

Hi! I’m Tam from Sew Dang Cute Crafts and I’m so excited to be here as part of Michelle’s Making a Memory series.

My husband and I both grew up in a pretty big families with lots of siblings. Both our moms made extra efforts to make each child feel special. Today I’m going to share with you a tradition from my husband’s family we have carried on with our children.

The Red Plate

Have you heard of this one? I hadn’t until I got married and I love it! My husband grew up with it and thought it was a lot of fun as a kid.

The red plate is a “special” plate. Whenever a family member has a special occasion, big event, or just needs an extra boost, they get to use the red plate for the day. Most of the time we use the red plate on birthdays.

However, other times could be doing well on a test, making a sports team, etc. My kids get really excited when they get to be the “special” person and use the red plate. It’s been fun so far (my kids are still pretty young) and I expect it to get better as the years go on. It’s a little something that can create fond memories for my kids and hopefully, help them remember the times they got to be extra “special”.

Basically a lot of people worked really hard to make something extraordinary. Now, it’s in your hands to make a difference.

This one-of-a-kind cookbook was originally only going to be offered as an E-book for a $10 donation. But after receiving feedback from readers, we realized that many of you want a physical copy. We approached our favorite publisher, Paper Coterie, who was willing to donate 100% of the supplies, and 100% of the cost of printing for this amazing cause. Are you feeling the warm tinglies yet?!
