Cereal Treat Sunday-Chocolate Chex Caramel Corn Bars

So, this week's recipe is straight from the source. I found it on the Chex website a few months back when I was looking for something to do with the new Chocolate Chex. It totally rocks! I love the mix of sweet and salty and well we are big fans of popcorn at my house so that's just an added bonus.

Chocolate Chex Caramel Corn Bars

Ingredients

4cups popped light butter-flavor microwave popcorn
4cups Chocolate Chex® cereal
1cup pretzel sticks, coarsely broken
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1/4cup semisweet chocolate chips

1. Butter bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan. Remove unpopped kernels from popped popcorn. In large bowl, mix popcorn, cereal and pretzels; set aside.
2. Microwave brown sugar, corn syrup and butter uncovered on High 1 to 2 minutes or until boiling, stirring after 1 minute. Microwave 30 seconds longer; stir. Pour over cereal mixture in bowl, stirring until evenly coated. Press firmly in pan.
3. In small bowl, microwave chocolate chips uncovered on High 30 seconds to 1 minute or until chips can be stirred smooth. Drizzle over bars. Cool.
