Valentine Wreath Results and the Project that Filled Up My Saturday

Well there was a clear winner in the Valentine Wreath vote and she is a beauty!
I did as I said and chose the winner by votes, but when I went to the craft store to pick up my styrofoam heart. They did not have any. Sheesh. I am still on the hunt. I guess that's what I get for being a procrastinating crafter. Blah. I am still determined to get some Valentine goodness out there so do not despair!

But I did get one red bow tied!

The bag was filled with this...

Wallpaper. Horrendous peach and gray striped wallpaper that I have abhorred since we moved in (4 years ago). I finally tore that hideous wallpaper down! You can see that the border was already missing. Yep, got rid of the creepy happy geese right away. I could not be made to feel like Mother Goose.

So here is where I was after an hour. Pretty good progress with my bare hands. But, then I brought in back up (two spray bottle of water and a putty knife) and it was no contest after that!

I even braved the back alley and let me tell you, it gets scary back there!! A puddle of unknown goo was residing under the washer.

Ah, it's almost like the poor room can breathe now! Two and a half hours of paper thrashing therapy and I was back in business hanging laundry. I just need to remove those lovely peach blinds and replace them with the Crisp white $2.50 Walmart blinds waiting patiently on the washer.

A little Spackle and a can of paint and my laundry room will be a whole new world. Hubs insists on white and it is a pretty small room so I may agree, but we'll see what comes home with me. What do you think?

Good job! I hate removing wallpaper. White could be nice... and you could get a cute boarder( no geese )...it would be easy to put up and take down if you change your mind.

Have a great day!

I would do a light yellow or blue. Good job on the laundry room. You make me a little motivated to tackle on something at my house but that will disappear in a few hours. Thanks for sharing.

I NEED color! You can still have color in a small room as long as you don't go dark. Even a vanilla cream is better than white. Good job on the wallpaper. I hate the stuff, nothing like scraping wallpaper!

Jessica-
Thanks for the link. I do like that Woodlawn blue. I think I may be leaning toward the blues.

If you ever have to remove wall paper again here is a hint. Use the hottest water you have, just out of the faucet, doesn't have to be boiling, in a spray bottle. Add liquid fabric softener to the bottle. Probably about 1/3 the amout of water. Spray it on the wall paper and let soak for a few minutes. When you come back spray a little more on and start peeling. It should come off so easy. The fabric softener really helps.

Looks good!! We just removed the wallpaper from our half bath. It's like a breath of fresh air without all the floral craziness we had going on!
