    SNAP Recap

May 8, 2013 By Michelle Barneck 2 Comments

Anyone who follows my twitter stream knows I went to the SNAP conference a couple of weeks ago. So ya, I’m a little late with this, but it took me a while to recover from my stay with roomies Stacy and Leanne. They are too fun to get any sleep. I’m sure you’ve seen recaps all over blogland so I’ll save you from a novel with all the details and just fill in some highlights.

First off, there was a door decorating contest. We decided to do a photo booth with a bunch of  magnetic creative blogger tools hanging around the door frame. We had funny sayings on chalkboard word bubbles to along like:

    Nail gun – “Nailed it!”
    Trowel – “I dig blogging!”
    Rolling pin – “That’s how I roll.”

Photos from Stacy and Amy’s Instagram.
At first, I was not excited about having a PJ party that first night (something about having no cute PJs), but by that night I was so ready to be in comfy clothes! I had forgotten shoes to wear with my track suit (not so cute with riding boots) I realized I had some flip flops, but then the cute Cricut girls (my awesome sponsors) surprised me with some slippers. They totally take care of me and let’s be frank anyone who rocks Ninja Turtle pants is a friend of mine.

I love how the left picture sums up how we pretty much just laughed our heads off and had fun the whole time. All of my pictures turned out like this. Luckily, Amanda redeemed us with the pic on the right.

The second night was the dinner sponsored by Cricut along with the Queen Bee Market. Cricut must have brought over a million flowers. No joke. I spread five huge boxes over all the dinner tables and it didn’t even make a dent! We got a little nuts with the ginormous flowers.

I also won this amazing Sage and Harper bag from Queen Bee Market. Isn’t it awesome?! I’ve never loved a bag so much!

Day three brought the Lowe’s Designer Challenge where they gave each team a table full of random items and one hour to create something fabulous.

    My team included:

  • Sarah from Becoming Martha
  • Heidi from HoneyBear Lane
  • Kelly from Live. Laugh. Rowe
  • Katie from Sew Woodsy (Check out her fabulous post about the challenge)

  • We built this fun kid’s puppet theater out of a dropcloth complete with Princess and Superhero puppets made from glue sticks, zip ties, furniture sliders, and paper towels.

So what about the classes right? I won’t bore you with the wealth of techie/business stuff.
Here are some take aways for the blogger and non-blogger alike…
    • Use floral frogs to hold foam board vertical to create backgrounds for your pictures.
    • Use T-pins to hold fabric on foam boards for staging pictures.
    • Love your kids for who they are, not who you need them to be.
    • If you have anxiety you are living in the future, if you have guilt you are living in the past, if you have peace you are living in the present!
I guess you could say I have been living in the present taking the conference theme “Create Joy” to heart and that’s why this post is fashionably late. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Disclosure: I am an affiliate of Cricut and they were my sponsors for the SNAP conference because they are awesome like that.

    Here’s the Biz #DirtyLaundry

March 18, 2013 By Michelle Barneck 125 Comments

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Biz Stain Fighter for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I actually don’t mind the laundry. Stick it in and it cleans itself while you take care of other things. But, you know what I do mind (especially with two little boys) stains. It seems like I am always battling something trying different stain fighters and sending the item through the wash cycle over and over. It’s annoying.

The other day I ended up with a stain, yes me not the kids, though it was due to one of the kidlets. I got chocolate milk dripped right in the middle of the neckline of my go to white shirt. You know the one, the staple you wear like once a week. “Why do I have to wear someone else’s mess?” I thought. Ug. Worst things was it was on the first stop on a bunch of errands so one, I had to go other places like that and two I knew it would set in and chocolate milk can be a bugger to get out when dried.
    Biz Before and After
So, I tried something new, Biz. I remember my mom always used it, but I had up until this moment not. Lucky for me they sent me some to try out. Guess what? It worked like a charm the first time! I pre-treated with Biz and washed as usual with no bleach or anything and it came out spotless. Hallelujah!
And get this. Biz isn’t only for laundry detergent boosting! You can use it as a multipurpose cleaner. I am anxious to try it out on the grout between my bathroom tiles.

If you want to give it a whirl here is a $1 Biz coupon. You can also like Biz on Facebook or follow @BizStainFighter on Twitter for more tips and deals.

In the spirit of fighting laundry messes,
we are giving away a Biz gift pack: Biz Liquid and Powder Product and a $100 Visa card to spruce up your laundry room!

Method of entry: leave a comment on this blog post telling me what your biggest #DirtyLaundry problems are. For example; kids sport uniform stains, potty training woes, etc.

Welcome the A Little Tipsy Creative Team

February 12, 2013 By Michelle Barneck Leave a Comment

I am so excited to introduce you to the newest additions to the A Little Tipsy Creative Team! These ladies each have something very special to offer and I am thrilled to be able to have them share their talents with you. In the near future each Tuesday will be creative team Tuesday and you will get a special treat post from one of these fabulous women.

    Home/DIY

My name is Ali I have been blogging for two years over at House Vintage sharing my flea market decor and budget friendly DIY projects. Thrifting is in my genes, and one of my favorite childhood memories is exploring garage sales with my Grandma. On the weekends you can find me searching flea markets and estate sales for treasure to repurpose or resell. My guilty pleasures include taking naps, watching reality television, and eating raw cookie dough. My home is my place in the world because it is a reflection of what and whom I really love. I am excited to share my projects with you as a new contributor at A Little Tipsy!

    Entertaining/Home

Aly Brooks loves a good party, anything and everything vintage, and a challenge. “Boundless energy and creativity” is her mantra. She owns an event Management company called, Entirely Eventful, and blogs at entirelyeventfulday.com where you can find everything from party ideas to home design to yummy treats. Aly is most at home in her painting clothes or behind a mega phone. She has been directing events and throwing parties professionally for the past six years and loves it more every day. She is mother to three little ones and wife to one uber-supportive husband. And right now, Aly is thrilled to be part of the A Little Tipsy Creative Team!

    Holiday/Seasonal
I’m Amy, blogger at The Happy Scraps, and I am so excited to be part of the contributing team at A Little Tipsy. I am the wife to one great guy and a SAHM to four boys. I’ve had a variety of jobs since I was old enough to work, such as a janitor, heavy equipment operator, and administrative assistant. I’m a certified scuba diver, chick flicks are about the only kinds of movies that I watch, and exercising is not my favorite thing. I love potatoes in almost any form, but especially french fries. I love Oreo truffles, but don’t like Oreo’s and I would rather create than cook! On my blog you will find papercrafting, cardmaking, wood crafts, gift ideas, sewing, and scrapbooking ideas.

    Recipes/Crafts

Hello! Iโ€™m Kelly from Smart School House. Iโ€™m a stay at home mom with a bachelorโ€™s degree and a teaching credential that are collecting dust as we speak. I met my husband at the youthful age of 19. Over ten years later, we are married with two toddlers (Stella & Mitch) and a pretty home in San Luis Obispo, California. Iโ€™m overly excited to be here at A Little Tipsy to learn, create, share, and have fun!

    Sewing

I’m Terra and I blog over at mama says sew. I am a SAHM to my three favorite children in the whole world. My love of sewing began on my fifth birthday, when my grandma gave me a sewing kit, complete with blue fabric with elephants printed on it. I made many Barbie clothes out of that fabric. I eventually took a few sewing classes in high school, which helped improve my (very shaky) skills, and really fell in love with sewing when I started sewing for my children. I love sewing for my two girls and my son and occasionally my home.

     Recipes/Crafts

Vanessa is a wife, play at home mommy, blogger at Our Thrifty Ideas, and possibly the reason Dr Pepper is in business. She lives a crazy and fun life full of creativity, laughter and love with her two Littles and hard working husband. She loves the summer time and everything it entails; BBQ’s, parades, parks, and of course Dr Pepper while basking in the sun. So although she lives in Utah, the state known for it’s snow, her heart and mind are often found in tropical places, or even just California where the sun still shines in January!

Did you notice that through some stroke of fate all of their blog button colors totally compliment mine?! It’s like it was meant to be!

So here’s how it will work. We will rotate through the team to give you a good mix of post topics and will be kicking off Creative Team Tuesday two weeks from today with a fun home post from Aly (I got a sneak peek today and it is super cute) so stay tuned!
