Heber Valley Railroad’s North Pole Express

December 11, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 9 Comments

I have always wanted to ride one of the Heber Valley Railroad trains, so when they contacted me to bring my family on the North Pole Express train I jumped at the chance!

We arrived at the little gift shop to get our tickets and my little guy had a heyday checking out all the train themed merchandise. Be sure to arrive 15 minutes early to get your tickets as the trains leave right at their scheduled time. You know all those cartoons with the conductor tapping his watch. Not just on tv people. πŸ™‚

We were in the caboose which was pretty cool. We found a great spot and got the family settled. I love that the benches are adjustable so you can ride forward or backwards. It was nice to turn one around so my whole family could sit together. It was super fun to sit by Quinn and Shannon‘s families on the train.

We did some serious window watching and then came the cookies and hot chocolate. Mrs. Clause even brought us the recipe for Santa’s favorite cookies.

We sang carols along with the “emcee” (though she could not carry a tune) and daddy shared some snuggles with our candy cane baby.

Then, the big guy arrived. As you can see my little one pinned him before he could get very far through the door.

Lucky for us, we were in the very back of the train so he was one of the first to get to chat with Santa. He asked him if he had been a good boy and he said, “no.” Santa told him he still had time to start being good before Christmas.

He loved talking with Santa, but was disappointed to learn that he did not have any candy canes. But, Santa did come equipped with old fashioned wooden tops.

He thought the top was pretty darn cool once he figured out what it was. He was so proud that he could spin it all by himself.

Our littlest one even joined in the Santa fun.

All in all we had a great time. It was such a great way to kick off the holidays as a family.

And of course I want to help you enjoy the Heber Valley Railroad’s North Pole Express!

Call the Heber Valley Railroad directly at 435-654-5601 and ask for the β€œUtah Blogger” discount. Tell them A Little Tipsy sent you to get $5 off coach tickets on December 14, 15 and 16.

Neighbor Gift & Thanksgiving Point Annual Family Pass Giveaway

December 8, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 172 Comments

I attended a GNO bloggers event at Thanksgiving Point last week and learned some really fun things. Like how to make this adorable, economical neighbor gift…

Easy as pie: can, pea rocks, potting soil, paper whites bulb, moss, water, burlap, green sprigs, red berries, DONE and for about two dollars!

And where to shop for cute items like these…

I will require all my gifts to be wrapped in this paper. πŸ˜‰ And I just adore these oversized stockings straight out of whoville!

Love, love the burlap pillows! The one on the right reads “My whole heart for my whole life.” Aaah.

Where to taste yummy food like this…

I am dying to try the Grilled Flatbread, Roasted Chicken Pot Pie, House Penne, Spiced Apple Fritters, and Vanilla Creme Brulee. Could I eat it all in one sitting, well I could try!

and where to ride through a glorious light display (including amazing water/ice sculpture) on one of these…

You must try the totally delish hot cocoa!
Plein Air Art Festival September 14-18

This was truly a learning experience for me. I have frequented the many child themed areas of Thanksgiving Point like Cornbelly’s and the Children’s Discovery Garden, but was yet to visit the more adult areas like Harvest Restaurant, where they serve the most divine Rock Shrimp Nachos, and the Emporium, with its 13,000 square feet of one of a kind shopping. There are seriously so many things to do and see at Thanksgiving Point any time of the year! Whether the Tulip Festival, cooking classes, or the gigantic Dinosaur museum there is something to please every member of the family.

Oh, and I have something that will totally please your family! Thanksgiving Point is giving away an annual family pass (value $175) to a lucky Tipsy reader! Talk about fun family present under the tree.

Baby Announcements-$50 Tiny Prints Giveaway

December 7, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 107 Comments

I’m sure many of you have already heard of Tiny Prints. They are no strangers in the blogger market. I recently had the opportunity to work with them and let me tell you it was a total joy! I was able to design, print and send my baby announcements through them and let me tell you it was so nice to have everything run smoothly and easily with a task like this during the holidays!

Tiny Prints | Big Impressions, Little Packages

All I had to do was pick a theme (there were a ton of adorable ones to choose from) and then alter the wording and upload my pics (taken by the amazing Tamra from Modern Expressions Photography). It was fast and they turned out just perfect for our little guy.

Tiny prints even has a mailing service where you can upload your address list and they will do all the work of addressing and sending them out for you! This is a huge bonus in my book. I did not want to sit and address envelopes while trying to keep two kiddos happy. I had them mail most of mine out and had a few sent to my house to hand deliver to family I knew I would be seeing in the next couple of weeks.

The announcements I ordered were printed on a heavy duty cardstock (for some reason I thought they would be on a photo paper of some sort) and came with good quality white envelopes. I can’t wait to hand them to family and friends as they are a product I am really happy with.

And guess who’s giving you the chance to try them our for free, yep, they are! Tiny Prints is giving away a $50 gift code to a lucky Tipsy reader! Use it for your holiday cards or some other fun printing idea you have up your sleeve!

To enter: Tell me what you would use the $50 gift code toward.

Santa Baby

December 4, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 2 Comments

Not only is it one of my favorite Christmas songs, but it is one of my favorite new finds! Look what little guy will be donning soon.

Toddler/ Children's long sleeved applique Santa Claus tee for Christmas

I know right?! Hilarious and adorable all wrapped in to one! I guess my guy just turned three so he is not really a baby anymore. He has been begging for Santa clothes. I didn’t want to get him a cheap tacky velveteen costume and good luck trying to find Santa suit pjs, I spent more time than I would like to admit on that search. (I so wanted Santa pjs for my 3 year old and elf pjs for the baby.)

Now I know to start my search on Etsy! I found this adorable little shirt/suit in Jack and Chloe’s shop. (random fun fact: she is LDS) I knew my little guy had to have it. Simple and so so fun!

Want one too? Jack and Chloe’s shop is offering 10% off any orders made through Friday, December 10th! Just use code TIPSY10.

HO, ho, Ho…Merry Christmas!

FTC Disclosure: Jack and Chloe’s shop is sending me a santa suit to review, but I fell in love with it on my own.
