Just Dance Kids Giveaway-NOW CLOSED

November 22, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 117 Comments

We are a dancing family. Two of us were on drill teams and three of us were on college ballroom dance teams. We love to dance and we’re not scared to show it. About a month ago my sister was in a competition at work with the other Vice Presidents to see who would be the champion of “Just Dance” while dressed up as past cast members from Dancing with the stars (she was a pregnant Bristol Palin). We had a crazy fun time practicing for her competition so when I was asked to review “Just Dance Kids” I jumped at the chance!

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61RyFPDpMML._SL500_AA300_.jpg

We started off with my 3 year old, 7 year old niece and their aunt. My son dropped out quickly not quite understanding he was supposed to copy the people on the tv (who were real kids BTW not animation, my sister was really surprised by that). He just watched, but my niece and sister had a great time.

We found there were three different modes: dance party (continuous songs without returning to menu), freeze and shake mode (gain extra points for shaking or standing still when queued), and team play (dance together for one score). The team play option may be good for smaller kids who feel bad when they lose. Then everyone can just celebrate what a big score they got together.

It didn’t take long for us to wear out the kids and then it was the aunts turn to try it out. I think they may have had more fun than the kids. I had a good time watching and collecting blackmail footage.

Being the only one not participating in the dancing (too paranoid two weeks after a c-section) I noticed that there were words to the songs at the bottom of the screen and began to sing along. It’s the prefect little karaoke opportunity for those who don’t want to or can’t dance.

After playing for a while we realized that whoever was holding the green controller got a considerable advantage and usually won. There was one point, as you can see in the video below, where my son actually put his controller away on the charger and still won his cousin who danced the entire time. I’m not sure if it was an issue with the controllers, but it was odd. We are not sure how the scoring is recorded and how to get the highest score, but we sure had a lot of fun.

Afterward, I asked my niece what she thought of the game.
She said, “It was awesome!”
“Oh, so you liked it?” I said.
“I didn’t like it, I loved it!” she said.
“What was your favorite part?” I said.
“I liked the ABC song.”

Won’t she be surprised when she finds this under the tree!!

Do you want one under your tree too?! Ubisoft is giving away a Just Dance Kids game to a lucky Tipsy reader! (must be located in the continental U.S.)

Boy Week: Fall Down Tree Print Giveaway

November 17, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 86 Comments

I am super excited about today’s giveaway. I ran across Fall Down Tree (a local Utah artist) while on etsy and immediately fell in love with his prints. They are so whimsical and fun! I had such a hard time deciding what print I wanted to review. First, I wanted this “Peter Pan” print which is my son’s current favorite movie, but quickly realized I had no where to put it.

Peter Pan - Print 8x10

Then, I wanted the “Dino Kids” or “Dino Sore” prints for my 3 year old’s new paleontology room, but quickly realized I already had items for each wall.

Dino Kids Print Set of 3-8x10Dino Sore - Print 8x10

I totally want “Hung Out to Dry” for my laundry room, but knew it did not fit with the theme of Boy Week, but alas I found the perfect print for my house.

Hung Out To Dry - Print

“The Truck Stops Here” print is just perfect for my transportation themed nursery. I have an empty wall looking lonely where it will fit perfectly. See that square frame in the first pic below? Ya, it now resides in my kitchen holding son’s artwork so that poor little piece of wall stands alone.

Not for long. I just need to find the perfect frame because a Fall Down Tree print can’t just go in any old thing. The prints are on a white linen textured cardstock with a matte finish so they would even look great without glass giving a canvas effect.

And did you see that I already have a vintage red truck sitting on the shelf? (Don’t ask why that random bank is in its bed) It was a gift from Grandma and Papa that I just adore.

The Truck Stop Here is going to be the perfect addition to renew the nursery for our new little one. Now with a new baby comes gifts, but you know by now that the gifts are not for me, they are for you!

Fall Down Tree is giving away a $15 Gift Certificate or 8×10 print of your choice!

To enter: Visit Fall Down Tree and tell me which print you would choose.

Boy Week : Trendy Tikes Boys Tie Giveaway

November 15, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 89 Comments

Ever since I found out I was having another boy I have been on the search for a great boys tie. I wanted something cute and trendy and am not a big fan of the clip on ties because my 3 year old can get them off so easy. I was searching around etsy for BYU stuff for boys and ran across these cute BYU ties at Trendy Tikes.

BYU or Utah Necktie, choose your team, sizes 4mo-adult

I got a little deeper in to Rachel’s shop and just knew these were the ties I had to have for my little guys. The patterns are adorable and they come with an adjustable strap with hook closure that might actually keep the boys tie on through 3 hours of church. I fell in love with this black and white houndstooth and it was done. My matching boys ties were found.

My 3 yr old wore his for the first time yesterday. He was so proud of his handsome new tie. He even let me take his pictures, which is usually quite a battle. Some of my young women came over after church to give me a blanket they had tied for the baby and when he got home he walked right up to them and said, “Have you seen my new tie?”

The baby did not get to sport his yet because let’s face it he is 12 days old and I have precious few outfits (none of which include a collar) that do not drown his 6.5lbs. Maybe for his blessing day.

Trendy Tikes also has super cute holiday ties right now. Want to win one?! Trendy Tikes is giving away a holiday tie to a lucky Tipsy reader! Don’t have a little boy? No prob, they come in teen and mens sizes too!

My LDS Memories Photo Book Giveaway

November 12, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 131 Comments

Have you heard about My LDS Memories?

They have a totally cool site where you can create photo books for special life moments like baptism, missions, weddings and of course new babies. The thing that is really neat about them is they have some templates already done for you, complete with perfectly themed LDS quotes, all you have to do is add your photos and any journaling and you’re done! The program is so easy to work with and let’s you do as much or as little personalization as you want.

I have already made two books, one of my engagement photos and one of my wedding and they are beautiful. The books are good quality hard cover. I have ordered books from nearly 10 different vendors and these are some of the best I’ve seen.

I am really excited about their newest product the “My Family Proclamation” book. It combines quotes from the “The Family: A Proclamation to the World” by The First Presidency and Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with your family photos to create a beautiful keepsake album. I am going to use pics from our recent Fotofly family shoot and make my own. I also plan on using photos from my son’s newborn shoot to make an “I’m here!” book.

I am going to make them this weekend, why? Because Saturday through Monday they are having a 3-day sale with all photo book prices starting at just $15!! Prices are usually $34.95 so this is a steal!

My LDS Memories wants you to be able to try it out for free, so they are giving away a free photo book code ($34.95 value) to two Tipsy readers.

To enter: Visit My LDS Memories and tell me which book you would want.
