Rod Works Mother’s Day Giveaway

May 4, 2011 By Michelle Barneck 423 Comments

With Mother’s Day around the corner why not give yourself a little gift? I have a little something for you at the end of this post, but for now let’s chat about Rod Works. Have you been there? Am I the only one who has been living under a rock?

They invited me to come visit their store (I visited the one in Draper) and let me tell you this could be dangerous. My husband will not be pleased with this discovery! They have so may wonderful items, but I love that the store is still small enough to not be overwhelming.

I love this black, white and green combo! That pear print belongs with me I just know it.

My light switch plates hide themselves in shame compared to these!

I love this memo board. Just goes to prove that a command station can be beautiful too!

They had tons of cute clocks and miniature dress forms and lanterns. Oh, my lanterns. I am still pining over those alphabet eggs.

Would you look at that fan?! I have a big crush on it and may have to slip a little hint to the hubs for mother’s day. No way to say “You’re a hot mama” like giving a vintagey fan.

I came home with two lanterns, some awesome decor balls, and an ant made out of bells (sound weird, but it is adorable) that is going to be too dang cute this summer beside my wooden watermelon. They will be debuting in my home in the near future. I had so much fun roaming the store and plan to head back soon.

Want a taste of the Rod Works goodness? They want to reward two lucky mamas (or future mamas) with a fun gift. You have the chance to win one of the following prizes:

Family Tree frame (value $50)

Bench gift set (value $65)

To enter: leave a comment saying which prize would be your first choice.

  • You must be able to pick up your prize at one of their Utah or Vegas stores.
  • The 1st winner will get their 1st choice and the 2nd winner will get the remaining prize.

Extra entries: leave a separate comment for each entry

  • Sign up for the Rod Works Newsletter (they will send you coupons, etc.)
  • Like Rod Works on Facebook
  • Follow Rod Works on Twitter

Giveaway closes Monday, May 9th. Good luck!

Disclosure: Rod Works sent me a gift card to try out their store and is also providing the prizes. The opinions are 100% my own.

Your Shape Fitness Evolved Review

March 7, 2011 By Michelle Barneck 2 Comments

Ok, so if you follow on facebook or twitter you may know that we got an Xbox Kinect for Valentine’s Day. Really romantic huh. 😉 With the combo of our lovey dovey gift and my families current weight loss challenge (everyone put in $25 so there’s upwards of $200 riding on it), I have been playing Ubisoft’s Your Shape Fitness Evolved game. And let me tell you, it’s pretty dang cool!

First, you take a fitness test to see what your current level is. Let’s not talk about my fitness level. We’ll just say when I followed up the fitness test with the “Light & Easy” gauged to be simple for anyone workout, I felt it. I am a sad specimen. (Though my 23 year old sis did one of the real workouts after the fitness test and she could not walk stairs or lower herself to the toilet seat she was so sore the next day.) I need my little virtual trainer to whip me back in to pre-baby shape.

{I apologize in advance for the sideways movies. I tried to turn them, but the software would not export so alas I was stuck with the originals.}

As you can see in the videos, I love how it shows you next to the trainer so you can see exactly what you are doing wrong. Do I enjoy seeing my lard-o baby bulge next to Barbie size trainer, not so much, but I do like that I can see how my movements compare to hers. It also gives you tips about how to improve your form as you go along. It’s great!

The best side lunge demo you’ll ever see from a non-side lunger.

What I look like next to my Barbie trainer.
So I have a fondness for Eclairs. What can I say?!

I also think Your Shape Fitness Evolved is easier to control than some of our other Kinect games. It recognizes what I am trying to select quickly so I am not fiddling around trying to get it to point at the right thing. Love that!

So what I am trying to say is…Your Shape Fitness Evolved is fun, it will make you sore, and you can do it at home in your pj’s during nap time! This trainer is available 24/7! Wish me luck in my family weight loss competition!

While Ubisoft sponsored this review, the opinions I’ve expressed here are solely my own and represent my honest viewpoint. Ubisoft, Clever Girls Collective and I promote Blog With Integrity.

Babybjorn Carrier Review & Giveaway

December 15, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 255 Comments

If there is one thing I have learned making the rounds with baby number two it is that you can’t skimp with baby products. If you buy cheap diapers they leak, discount bottles will give baby’s tummy bubbles and economical carriers will make your back hurt. When it comes to baby I have my favorite brands and I do not stray. Straying causes stress and who needs more stress?!

Babybjorn makes my carrier of choice. I tried a couple of carrier brands with my first son. I borrowed a carrier from my sister and when she had a baby a few months later, I borrowed my sister-in-law’s Babybjorn carrier. I had no idea what I was missing. The Babybjorn carrier was so much more comfortable! It was easily adjustable to fit like a glove on anyone who wore it. I love that it has lumbar support for me and proper support for my little guy’s wobbly head. There are also little loops by the legs that can hook to make the leg holes smaller for newborns. Love! It makes me feel like my little one can sit comfortably without being flailed about as I move. He loves being all snuggled up and toted about.

(I didn’t put his arms out the holes because he is still little and likes having them close by his face.)

So, guess who has her very own Babybjorn carrier now. Yep, me! It is super festive in bright red. One of the few things for this little guy that aren’t hand me down from my first. Happy new carrier buddy!

What is that you say? You wish you had one too. One that was made from mesh so it is cool and breathable? It should have a cool name (well, besides Bjorn which is a pretty cool name in and of itself!) too like trifecta or verve or synergy. Well call me Fairy Godmother because …

We are giving away a Babybjorn Synergy Carrier to a lucky Tipsy reader!
($170 at Target)

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

December 14, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 2 Comments

Guess what came in the mail?! The Jack and Chloe Santa suit arrived and the little guy could not be more thrilled! He wanted to put it on right away so I let him try it on before bed.

Then, we saved it for his birthday party with his Aunts & Cousins where he walked around handing out candy canes and saying “Ho, ho, HO!”

It survived the boy for a night and a trip through the wash so I am giving the little suit props! He will wear it to meet Santa at story time tomorrow and again on Christmas eve. He’s such a happy little Santa.

Don’t fret if you did not get your suit from Jack and Chloe this year. They have adorable non-Christmas items too!
I love the appliqued onesies and well this shirt is just tutu cute!

Custom set of 3 ladybug onesies-you choose size, name, and monogram letterCustom baby onesies gift set- you choose size, colors, name Toddler Girl tutu cute shirt in hot pink and black

She’s having a destash sale so run over and stock up!

Disclosure: Jack and Chloe provided me with the Santa Suit, but the opinions of her shop are my own.
