Fall Burlap Subway Art Printable with My Daylights

Hi there! I’m really excited to be a guest here at A Little Tipsy. I’m Jennifer from My Daylights where I share a little bit of everything-recipes, crafts, a little DIY, thoughts, book reviews, and my very favorite thing, Printables.

Walking down the aisles at craft stores and some retail stores, I have to honestly say that I breathe a sigh of relief to see the fall items on the shelves. While there are definitely some fun aspects to summer, I am honestly not in love with it! I am not a fan of the heat. At all! Which is why Fall is amazing. It’s beautiful, it’s crisp, it’s cooler, and it has one of my favorite holidays-Halloween. My husband is always joking each year that we can’t possibly add one more fall decoration to our home and I take great pride in proving him wrong!

One of the easiest ways to decorate is with printables. Just print them out, throw them in a cute frame, and voila! Instant decor that’s easy to change out and move around. I have loved seeing all of the burlap items around the stores.

Burlap has such great texture and adds a special charm to any decor. Because I love it so much, I decided to create a printable that looks like it’s burlap. It’s easier than painting or getting the little burlap fibers everywhere.

The printable has some of my favorite words for fall, including a fun pumpkin.

It’s an 8×10 and works best being printed either on premium photo paper or premium presentation paper.

Scrap Wood Pumpkins with The Contractor Chronicles

August 25, 2014 By Michelle Barneck Leave a Comment

Hello Little Tipsy Readers!! It is good to be here again sharing a fun little project while Michelle is out with her sweet new baby! I know Michelle in real life so I am so excited for her and cannot wait to hold her little one! For those that don’t know me, I am Amanda and I blog alongside my husband over at The Contractor Chronicles. We love to share our knowledge of tools, our fun projects and our house remodels with our readers! Since we are going into cooler fall weather, I wanted to share a fun and simple Fall project that anyone can make with wood from your scrap pile, scrap wood pumpkins!

Scrapwood Pumpkins (12) copy

All you need for this project is a couple pieces of 2×4 wood and 2×6 wood! I found both in my scrap pile – but feel free to swing by Home Depot and grab a one of each a make a few of these for your home! Cut your pieces down – I cut two 2×4’s at 6 inches and two 2×6’s at 7.5 inches. I just did what I thought looked best – but make some bigger and smaller if you want too!

I used Rustoleum Cinnamon and sprayed the wood down.

When they were dry, I used my cornercat and sanded the edges a bit.

Lastly – and the thing that makes the pumpkin – I tied the whole thing up with green ric rac! I love it! It makes it look wavy – sort of like a real pumpkin!

I tied the top in a bow to look like “leaves.”

And you’re done! So simple but super cute!!

Chest Upgrade – A Sauder Review

July 16, 2014 By Michelle Barneck Leave a Comment

With baby boy #3 on the way in just a few more more weeks we’ve been doing some shifting to get the new nursery ready including moving our other two boys in to the same room. Bunk beds from my husbands childhood made this fairly simple, but storage space was an issue. Their room is fairly small and the existing dresser, closet and nightstand were bursting at the seams with clothes, books, and toys. I was thrilled when Sauder contacted me to try out one of their pieces. It could not have come at a better time!

I jumped right in searching Sauder.com for a piece that would fit our needs. I love the wish list feature that allows you to keep track of pieces that you love when you fall in love with a whole slew like I did. I decided to to visit the style lab and take the “find Your Furniture Style” quiz to help me narrow things down and end up with a piece that really fit. My style was “transitional” and it recommended the Shoal Creek Collection. They were totally right. I love the clean lines with the fun hardware that comes with this collection. I ultimately chose the Shoal Creek 4 Drawer Chest in the Oiled Oak Finish. The vertical design was perfect to fit in the boys small room. Here’s a sneak peek…

When the box arrived I was impressed at the packaging. It had extra reinforcement on the corners to ensure the contents would not be damaged which I love. There’s nothing worse than having to send it back before you even get started!

We pulled out all the pieces and got to work. My husband loved the clarity of the instructions. He was an English major and is usually pained with the horrendous explanations inside instruction booklets, but this time he kept commenting on how well things were written and laid out. We never had questions or hesitations on how things should go. They were very clear and even comical (in a good way) as shown in the picture below.

Something that was a great help to us with so many tiny parts to keep track of was to take them all out and separate them into muffin tins. This made them easy to spot and grab without sifting through and possibly losing any.

We actually built this for family night one evening. It was really cute to see my oldest work together with his Dad to create something for his room. He loves learning to use tools and many of the steps were simple enough for him to help with while closely supervised of course. Even preggo mom got in on some of the action assembling a few drawers while Daddy read to the boys at bedtime.

The next morning we moved the chest in to their room and I could not wait to style it up to fit their paleontologist theme. With the simple addition of a plastic dinosaur, dinosaur book, oil lantern, and a piece of authentic dino poop (as found in the desert of Utah by a neighbors dino bone hunting grandpa) it was all set as the perfect addition and storage solution.

Now everyone’s clothes have a place and there’s even room for sizes transitioning from one boy to another!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Sauder. The opinions and text are all mine.

Bathroom Rules on the Toilet Lid

May 5, 2014 By Michelle Barneck 15 Comments

We have little boys. This means messes. Imagine boys ages three and six sharing a bathroom. Toothpaste, water, and other things I won’t mention by name (I’m sure you can imagine) around making you crazy. My six year old is in kindergarten which means learning to read. I figured why not take the opportunity to lay down some ground rules for the bathroom with a fun little poem reminder of what to do in the bathroom.

See the entire post.

I found this adorable bathroom subway art poem from Designed by Dawn Nicole and immediately fell in love with it! We have been renovating the boys bathroom and I knew there would not be much wall/counter space with other decor I had planned, but there was a blank canvas right in front of me…a blank white porcelain canvas.

I imported the design into Cricut Design Space and with my Cricut Explore cut it out in gray vinyl. Then just moved it over to the toilet lid with some transfer tape and that was that. Awesome art and bathroom rules in place all in a few minutes!

I’m loving it! What do you think? Would you put bathroom rules on your toilet lid? Or any vinyl design for that matter?
We have decided to truncate our feed to help protect against stolen content. I apologize for any inconvenience. Please love us anyway. 🙂
