Feature Friday-Sisters Stuff Blog Swap

November 13, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 3 Comments

Today’s Feature Friday on this lovely Friday the 13th are two cute sisters Whitney and Alish who combine forces to create Sisters Stuff.

Sisters Stuff

I found their adorable blog, like they say below, when Alish and I became swap partners. Just look at all the cute stuff I got in the mail. If you get one of those cute cards, just pretend you didn’t see this and act like I made it. 😉 Thanks again Alish!

They are obviously very talented, so I’ll hand it over and let them show you around!

We discovered A Little Tipsy when Alish got her as her Tip Junkie Trade Secrets partner.
We are so excited that we found her blog and are swapping with her today.

Here are a few questions Michelle wanted us to answer:

What is your favorite crafting tool or secret weapon? Hot Glue Gun

What is your favorite organization tip? De-junking

What is the last movie you saw in the theater? The Proposal

Here is a little more about us.

We are 2 sisters that love crafts, recipes, saving money, organizing, home decor, trends, and love being moms. {Sisters Stuff} was created to share all the stuff we love.

Here are some of our favorite posts.
Recipe for Death by Chocolate

Cleaning Box for organizing chores.

We love this jewelry holder.

Thanks again for letting us swap with you today! Come check out {Sisters Stuff} for more great ideas!

Feature Friday-Gmail Blog

September 4, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 1 Comment

Hey all! Today’s Feature Friday is The Official Gmail Blog.

Google Gmail blog - News, Tips and Tricks from Google"s Gmail Team

Now this may seem a little weird, but when you see some of the tips I found on there, you will be glad I shared. Trust me. If you already use a gmail account for your email than these will show you how to get the most out of it. If you do not, maybe you will want one. (No, they are not paying me to say this. If only I got paid for all the times I go on and on about products or companies I like. I would have like $10 by now. 😉)

So here we go. Ever wanted to train to be a ninja? Well this part isn’t technically part of the blog, but it had so much great info and so many of the blog posts linked to it that I just had to share. It has tips for all levels, so you can just find the one that fits you.

Gmail Ninja

White belt:

  • Organize email with labels
  • Choose a theme for the background. Right now I am using Summer Ocean.

Green Belt:

  • Tweak your settings and include a forgotten attachment detector or turn on Undo Send so you can cancel oopsy messages before they are sent.
  • Set up filters for your email to label, delete or star messages

Black belt:

  • Alter your gmail addy with a plus sign when signing up for things so you can filter those emails out once they sell your soul to the highest bidder. Sweetness.
  • Set up gmail to fetch mail from other accounts

Gmail Master:

  • Not gonna lie, most of these were over my head, but you could check them out.

I would say I am residing somewhere between green and black.

DYK…I am a karate white belt in real life? I took a community ed karate class with my sister Jen. It was so much fun though slightly questionable at times. We had to spar at the end of class and we would have to go up against brown belts (the one right under black) because there were not many people in our class. I swear to you our Sensei never washed his Gi. The scent ripened each week. My very favorite was kicking the bag. I do a mean roundhouse. I never did try breaking a board. 😉

Also, if you have not checked out Google Reader, you should. This is what I use to read all of the blogs that I follow. It is nice to have them all in one place and have it automatically show me when there are new posts instead of having to go to each site to see if it was updated.

Well, that’s all we have time for…ta ta for now!

Organizing Your Hair and Makeup Items

August 7, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 4 Comments

I finally got motivated to clean up the top drawer in my vanity. Baby steps, the other drawers and medicine cabinet can wait. 😉 I laugh a little because I know many bloggers who only post really nice clean pics of their houses and once in a while say “It’s not always like this” and maybe post one dirtyish pic. Well I seem to be the opposite. Always showing you pictures of my messes. So I will go ahead and throw in an “It’s not always like this. ” There are clean places too.

On that note…here’s the before.
  1. Pull everything out and sort in to categories. I did:
  • hair things
  • jewelry
  • makeup
  • thread and buttons
  • stuff to move
  • stuff to give away or donate
  • stuff to trash
  • don’t be afraid to throw or give away things you have not used in the last six months-year

2. In my drawer, I used a mesh metal organizer with 4 compartments where I stored the make up I don’t use daily, my hair things, the buttons and thread and other odds. My jewelry (that isn’t in my jewelry boxes) is in the pink pouch and the white box left over from my face cleansing wipes. The teal makeup bag holds the make up I use daily and is in the front so I can access it quickly.

There I did it! I can finally link up with Organizing Junkie’s Monthly Organizing round-up (Makeup and hair supplies) and also join in Coming Clean’s Operation Organization Challenge.

How to Save Ideas You Find in Blogland

June 1, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 3 Comments

I don’t know about you, but as I scoot around bloggyville I find so many ideas that make me say, “Oooh, I want to do that!” At first I would save the web page in a folder or maybe just the picture, but it was getting way to time consuming and complicated. I would have this great idea, but have no idea where it came from to reference and had no way to search through all the cool stuff I was saving.

Enter Delicious or Del.icio.us.

I found this lovely little tool in March on Tip Junkie. Many of you may already use this, but if you don’t you should!!

Delicious is a bookmarking site where you can catalogue any page on the Internet. And once you’ve saved them, you can access those pages on any one’s computer! So, if you’re at your friend’s house and want to show her the amazing invites you want to do for her baby shower, you can pull it right up on Delicious.

Here’s how it works:

1. Create an account and follow the prompts to upload the Delicious toolbar on your Internet browser. It will look like this once it is done:

2. When you’re out blog-jogging click on the TAG button to bookmark that page (be sure you are tagging the direct link to that page, not the home page. Click on the header of the post to get the direct link). Give it a category (use only one word or it will put it in multiple categories). Fill out the description about exactly what you like on the page if you want.

3. You can find your bookmarks by clicking the del.icio.us button (the checkerboard) on your toolbar. All of your categories are listed in the right hand column.

4. If you click the blue square with the white bookmark on the toolbar it will list your categories and most recent bookmarks on the left side of your screen.

This has been a great way to organize all the great ideas I find out there. It makes them so much easier to find and document! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
