- Eggs
- 100% silk ties (must be 100% silk or it will not work) The darker the pattern, the better it turns out. We got ties at D.I. for $2, but also used silk pajama pants.
- Cotton cloth (we used old t-shirt others used pillowcases)
- Twist Ties
- Water
- White Vinegar
- Glass or Enamel pan
April Fool’s Prank Follow-up
Ok, so I shared these ideas in the original April Fool’s post, but I wanted to share my the actual pics from our April Fools dinner. I made the meatloaf cupcakes and the hamburger dessert and they turned out so awesome!
When my hubby came home, I told him we were eating dessert first and he sat down to this cute little cupcake.
He had one little taste of the “frosting” and said, “Are these potatoes?” Yes, yes they are! It looked even more like a cupcake after the first bite!
As for the hamburger dessert, I was sooo excited to finally get to use this recipe.
- Instead of making the brownies in ramekins, I used leftover brownies and cut them into circles with the top of a cup.
- Instead of getting glazed donuts and making pudding, I bought Bavarian cream filled glazed donuts. That way when I cut them in half I already had the “mayonnaise.”
- I didn’t get mint leaves simply because I did not find them.
- I used orange jello instead of lemon because my hubby hates lemon.
April Fool’s Pranks
Happy April Fool’s Day! Ha, Ha. Gotcha. April Fool’s Day isn’t until Wednesday, but here are some fun April Fool’s Pranks and recipes to get you started.
Family Fun has tons of awesome ideas for recipes and family friendly pranks for your kids. Don’t these cupcakes look delicious? I am totally using this recipe for the meatloaf and mashed potato cupcakes! I will tell my family we are eating dessert first for a fun switcheroo until they bite in to it…He he!
Then, we will dig into the “hamburgers” which are actually made from brownies, donuts, Jell-o and more. Don’t they look awesome?! I have been waiting for a good day to try this recipe for over a year! Get the recipe from Good Things Utah. How cute would this be with the Faux French Fries from Family Fun?! This is way too much fun!
I may try this Baked Potato Ice Cream Sundae recipe from Martha Stewart next year. I am lovin’ the tricky food prank recipes!
If I get really devious I may try this little water trick on my hubby since my little one is too young to understand. Wouldn’t it be funny as he goes to brush his teeth in the morning?! See more of Martha’s ingenious April Fool’s pranks here.

April Fool Zone has a bunch of funny ideas. I love this one.
Forgetful
Tape magnets to the bottom of an empty coffee cup, and attach it to the top of your car. Laugh at all the people who frantically try to get your attention as you drive by.
or for the office try this one…
Mouse Trap
Take a Post-It note and place it over the eye of the victimโs optical mouse. When the victim tries to use his or her computer, the cursor wonโt move. Be sure to write โApril Fools!โ on the note! (Note if they have a standard mouse, you can perform the same trick by taping a piece of paper over the ball underneath the mouse.)
Ok, now it’s time to have some fun! What do you have planned? Let me in on any funny pranks or recipes you have! I love a good laugh!
Oh, and Happy Birthday to the biggest Fool I know, Becky! She was born on good ol’ April Fools and will be turning 30 this year. (April Fools! I guess you can have one more year!)
Easter Eggstravaganza
I know, I know…more Easter. Hey, it is coming up. Don’t you want to have something festive? C’mon, make all your neighbors jealous. ๐
First off, an idea from I swiped from Cindi that I saw on Tip Junkie. This adorable egg wreath is so cute and fairly easy to make. Ok, it just took a little time and patience. I had a little family night and made them with my Mom and Sis.
Now for the full tutorial I’m sending you over to Cindi because she has great step by step instructions. For my two cents, I would say cutting out the cardboard circles was the hardest part. Here are a few photos I took of the process.
Thank goodness my mom the professional (ok, maybe that is a little exaggeration) bow maker was there.
One thing we did differently with the hanger was fold the pipe cleaner in half and glue it between the two pieces of cardboard for added strength to hold the wreath up.
Here we are all finished!!
Now, I had some supplies left over and could not bear to let them go to waste so I made this little flower arrangement. Cost: For me nothing. It is all leftovers or stuff I already had.
Supplies:
Pipe Cleaners
Plastic Eggs
Easter Grass
Ribbon
Vase
1. Start by bending 3 pipe cleaners in to figure 8s. I used all one color, but alternating colors could be cute too.
2. Then, lay them over each other to make a flower shape and twist around them with a green pipe cleaner for a stem.
3. Then, twist another pipe cleaner the perpendicular to the green (green vertical, middle color in this case purple horizontal) to give added stability and make the flower middles.
4. Then, make the middles by rolling the pipe cleaner up into a swirl.
5. Next, fold the green in half and wind it around itself to make it more stable.
6. Finally, fill the vase by alternating Easter grass and plastic eggs and arrange the flowers by placing them in the top. I also added a bow of some leftover ribbon to the vase.
Last, but not least, I found this cute quilted place mat at Big Lots for $3, added some ribbon, and hung it up. I love finding cheap items that make it look like I did something fancy!
