Blogiversary Week: Green Jello with Carrots Giveaway

February 16, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 48 Comments

Ok, so I am not going to send you an actual Jell-O. But, you could win some pretty cool stuff from the amazing women from Green Jello with Carrots.

But first, here is your random fact(s) of the day. I have never dyed, highlighted or colored my hair in any way…ever. I am too chicken that it will end up looking totally heinous and I would not be able to get back to my natural color. I know, I must have total trust issues.

Oh and for kicks, my favorite kind of Jello is Peach with peaches in it or Raspberry with Raspberries in it. None of this onion or ground beef craziness I have heard about. I am a purest.

They have the cutest downloadable LDS products out there! Get a load of these…

Manual Two Handouts 5-8 Garden of Eden File Folder (color) Call Me on a Mission

<span class= <span class=

and that doesn’t even put a dent in the products they have available! Plus, every Tuesday (that’s today!!) they offer a Green Jello grab where they discount different products and they have Freebie Friday where they offer a free product with order. Check out the details on their blog.

So now here’s your chance to win!

Melanie and Melissa are giving away a $15 gift certificate towards any of their downloads. That will buy you a ton of product!

Beautiful Blogger Award and 7 Random Facts About Me

February 15, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 12 Comments

My hilarious and fantastically stylish friend Stephanie over at The Daily Blarg was so kind to give me this Beautiful Blogger Award. And well the only way I could think to thank her was to pass on the love.

The Rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you for this award and insert a link to their blog.
2. Pass on the award to about 15 other bloggers who you recently discovered and think are great!
3. Contact the other bloggers and let them know they have been chosen for this award.
4. Say 7 things about yourself.

7 Random Facts About Me
1. I used to sleep on the right side of the bed, but moved to the left side when I was pregnant.
2. Yes, I am really quite clumsy. My husband laughs at me almost daily because of it.
3. I don’t go to the gym. I am not very good at working out at home so why add a fee to my laziness?
4. I have ridden in the cockpit of a commercial airplane. I even heard the warning that says you are getting too close to another airplane. Eeee.
5. I have owned three of those little African frogs: Fredrick (pronounced Freedrick), Ginger Ale, and Birkenstock.
6. I once used sea weed to dress up as the Statue of Liberty.
7. I have the same birthday as Donald Duck. No, really. We celebrated together at Disney World for my 21st bday.
K… Here are 15 FABULOUS ladies and their blogs… in random order.

Ok, so now we are going to play a little game. I am going to copy some of my fave bloggers out there and open up the floor for questioning. You are in charge of the one minute interview. You can ask ANYTHING. What would you like to know? I may not answer, but you can ask. 😉 You can also ask for a pic of something you would like to see, like what the inside of my fridge looks like (but, don’t ask that because it is a mess). Every day this week I will one of the questions/picture requests.

YW lesson 6 Handout: Sharing Work in the Home

February 12, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 6 Comments

So I was pondering what to give my church girls this week as handout. Lesson 6 is on sharing work in the home so I immediately thought something “houseworky” but not totally lame. I took a trip to the Dollar Tree and this is what I came up with.

To incorporate the wands, I am going to talk about the fairies in Sleeping Beauty and how everything was done by magic, so when they went to make the cake and the dress for Sleeping Beauty’s birthday and could not use magic it was a real mess. I am going to compare it to how sometimes we think things will be magically done by our mothers, but we need to learn to do them ourselves so when the time comes and we are own our own we aren’t stuck in a mess.

I think they turned out rather cute. I got the “magic erasers”, the heart sticks and the tulle all at the dollar store so I was only out 3 bucks! I hot glued two corners of the message on so it would stay together, but then they could rip it off and use the eraser.

Here is the handout 8 to a page if you would like to use it. Just click on the pick and it will make it bigger.

As a bonus idea that would be fun for some Sunday service you could make these adorable Rice Krispie Hershey Kisses. I got the idea from Homemaking Fun. Use the funnel trick! It makes them sooo easy!! They have her funnel at Dollar Tree, saw it today! Mine is a little different, but I just squished the top a little after I took it out to round it a bit. I made the message with a Sharpie (I wish I had a blue one!) and parchment paper so it would have that thin feel like in the real kisses.

We did heart attacks this week for our Young Women activity. We cut out tons of paper hearts and then picked a few family’s in the neighborhood who we thought could use some extra love. We spread out tons of hearts on the porch along with a Rice Krispie Hershey Kiss for each family member. Then, the girls would ring the doorbell and run.

The girls loved it and one of our less active girls even said it was the funnest thing she’d ever done. Score!!

Toasty Heart Valentine Breakfast

February 11, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 14 Comments

Here’s a fun little Valentine Breakfast idea I like to lovingly call the Toasty Heart. Yep, totally just made that up. It warms your heart doesn’t it. ha ha So all you do is use a cookie cutter to make a hole in your bread (buttered on each side so it will “toast”) then add an egg in the center. Cook like a fried egg.

Butter the little heart toast and throw it in the pan to toast.

Nice and golden brown.

Then, dip your little toast to your hearts content. While growing up, my parents would make these for us all the time. Not with a heart, they would cut out the hole with the rim of a glass. They called them Egyptian Sandwiches. Why, heaven only knows. They traveled to Egypt multiple times, but when they took me along a few years ago these were no where in site.

Why stop the lovey dovey breakfast with toast? This apple heart with caramel dip was just the ticket for my little health nut.

I just used caramel ice cream topping in the little dish for dip.
