I have always been one to like to be prepared. I try to keep my car with at least a half tank of gas, I have 72 hour kits and have been building up my food storage. Though there is one thing with food storage. I have it for emergencies, but what in the world am I going to do with 50 pounds of hard wheat, a can of shortening and dry milk? Seriously, I have the stuff, but I am no whiz at what to do with it. I don’t cook with it on a normal basis so how happy was I when I took a look at my sponsor Krisi’s list of options from Shelf Reliance.

Hello, were talking freeze dried raspberries, baked potato cheese soup, sour cream powder and ice cream sandwiches?! Now that’s what I call food storage. Something that I will be excited to eat and for that matter rotate when the time comes. One year for Christmas my parents gave us a size 10 can of M&M’s. We joke that we would be able to trade M&M’s for any other items we need because let’s face it some of the standard food storage is not all that appetizing. Keep you alive, yes. Keep you coming back for more. Not so much.
I was thrilled to find tons of long term storage options that could act as substitutes for things I use in everyday recipes: butter powder, egg powder, cheese blends and more. Oh how this has opened my eyes to what food storage could be. Will it cost me more than rice and beans, yes. But, it also will not go to waste at the end of the shelf life because my kids will eat macaroni and cheese and freeze dried pineapple.
Don’t get me wrong, the standard storage has it’s place in my storage room and Shelf Reliance has an abundance of these items as well. They even have a system to make food storage affordable as a monthly program. Just sign up for a Q and they will send you a selection of items according the monthly investment you choose. Cool right?!
Krisi even has a *special* right now. Anyone who sets up a Q of $150 will also receive a bonus product sent to them. Just email her (adamandkrisi at gmail dot com) that you saw the special here after your Q is activated. Or heck, email her and have her set it up for you, she is super helpful that way.
I just got two boxes of storage goodies in the mail and I am super excited for you to get to try it out too!
