Wedding Gift Wrap Idea

It's summer and wedding season is in full swing! Ever thought of using part of the wedding present as the wrapping? I love to do this. I choose a group of items from their registry that coordinate and include an item to hold them all. Then, I am spending money on things they will actually use rather than something that will be destroyed and thrown away. I of course doll it up with tissue and ribbon, but the actual gift container is re-usable.

Below I did a bathroom theme and included a shower curtain, a pack of wash cloths and wrapped them in a garbage can.

I have also done a bucket full of some of my favorite cleaning supplies. Everyone needs them and let's face it what new couple wants to spend their wedding gift cash on Lysol wipes and toilet cleaner?!

I love how the tissue paper kinda looks like suds.

Other fun ideas are:
  • Laundry basket with towels, hangers, laundry soap
  • Mixing bowl with measuring cups, spoons, hot pads
  • Pot with Pasta Scoop, Strainer, Garlic press

Very nice and practical gift ideas! Now, I'm thinking to also do that on my baby gifts for an upcoming friend's baby shower. Thanks! =)

The garbage can is a great idea. I have used a laundry hamper or basket with detergent, fabric softner, dry sheets, starch etc as wedding gifts for young couples starting out. These have always been well receive.

Thanks for sharing your great ideas!

I love it! Great idea... especially since I HATE to spend money on gift wrap!!! I am so using your cleverness to my advantage!

I love this idea! I once gave some cookie sheets, a cookie cooling rack, hot pads, and wrote some of my favorite cookie recipes down for the bride to be. She loved it!

That is my kind of wrapping... you know the kind that actually doesn't require paper, cutting, and tape.

Again... you are a goddess of all things rad.

Smart! I appreciate the melding of practicality and an aesthetic gift presentation. And the cleaning supplies probably get put to good use right away!

I found you while doing research for my blog about gift wrapping www.thegiftedblog.com). I love seeing fresh ideas - thank you for sharing!

For a house-warming gift, I like to buy a paint can (they have cool stainless steel ones at the Hardware store) and fill it with paint brushes, see packets, some basic tools and a gift card.

Love your blog. I LOVE projects!!!!

I always try to do this too! Especially at christmas, scarves and even boxers work great as wrapping "paper". Also, basket of cleaning stuff makes a great house warming gift if they've just moved out!
