Oh the Surprises!

December 27, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 4 Comments

We’re back from Christmas vacation in the country and oh the surprises I have for you!

I’d just like to thank my hubs for the laughs we shared when I opened this beauty. Watch out Walmartians, I have joined your ranks!

According to the box, I can even where it on an airplane! Or I could just don my snuggie, spread my arms wide, flap quickly, and save myself the ticket! 😉

TV Time Trouble

November 12, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 4 Comments

I have a new post on Rocky Mountain Moms Blog.

Here’s a little teaser…

Nov09 002 I am a hypocrite. It’s true. A few months ago I wrote this post about Toddler TV time and it’s relation to ADD. Did you know that their chances of having ADD and trouble in school increases nearly 10 percent for every hour of television they watch before age three?! I had all the good intentions and was really trying to keep my son’s Television time to 30 minutes per day. My little one is already super active and kinda crazy to keep entertained and quiet when needed. I had these horror stories running through my mind about how letting him watch TV would cause him to act out in the future and how he would struggle in school.

I was doing great limiting his TV time and was so proud of myself, for like a month….read more

Rocky Mountain Moms Blog

November 4, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 2 Comments

Hi there!
Just wanted to let you know that my very first post is up over at Rocky Mountain Moms Blog today! I am now a contributor over there and you will be able to find me ranting a couple of times a month. My posts over there will be a bit different, just talking about all my crazy mommy moments. Hmmm. Maybe they aren’t so different. 😉 Anyway, come visit me if you like!

Here is a little teaser…

I’m sure you have all done it. Traipsed out with gleeful ideas of the errands you were going to run and the angel your toddler was going to be while you doled out your coupons and debated between brands. Then, reality sets in and you find yourself struggling with one arm around your wriggling kids waist, the other full of boxes or bags and someone giving you “the look” for making a disturbance. A Few Thrifty Finds

October 13, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 3 Comments

I have been doing some major thrift store and garage sale shopping over the last couple of weeks. You saw much of it in my fall decor post, but here are the rest.

My little one has been obsessed with bikes for months. His legs are a bit too short for tricycles just yet, but I had been watching for a good deal. These babies are expensive. I found a Radio Flyer tricycle with a push handle for $8. I was thrilled and snatched it up.

I had also recently purchased an above ground pool on clearance at Big Lots for $20 and was wondering how in the world we would get in and out next year without collapsing the side. Tra la, I found this pool ladder for $4. Oh, how I love D.I.

Sometimes you just need a fake plant. All its little arms reached out to me, wanting me to take it home. How could I say no for $1?

I’m not usually in to rummaging through other people’s clothes. It just seems wrong in some inexplicable way. But, when we pulled up to a really nice house with a bin full of practically new name brand clothes in just my little guy’s size how could I not take home a few? $1 each.

We found these cowboy boots at D.I. for $3. They are the real deal, really high quality leather! He would not let them out of his sight. I thought they would make for a good dress up accessory. He can get them on all by himself and he LOVES that!
