Birthday Freebies

June 9, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 24 Comments

It’s my b-day! I am the big 3-0!

(or shall I say 29 and holding, though if I am going to hold, why not make it 25?)

30<span class=

I know, freakish huh. But, this week I have been celebrating with free stuff. I found a list of places with free stuff for birthdays a while back, signed up on a few and forgot about it until the freebies started rolling in. Here is some of the stuff I got.

Free meal from Noodles and Company

Free dinner from Benihana

B1G1 Blizzard from Dairy Queen

B1G1 Dinner at Medieval Times

Free Blue Ray DVD and 25 points from Disney Movie Rewards

I already enjoyed my Blizzard last week, Noodles & Co for lunch, and will be heading to Benihana soon! There is also a free shake from Iceberg drive in this year on your birthday with proof of birth date. Can’t pass that up!

I could not remember where I found my list, but here is one that is similar if you want a mailbox or email box full of fun free stuff on birthday week.

Birthday Freebies List from Hey It’s Free

BTW it is also the bday of Donald Duck (looking great for 76), Johnny Depp (please let me look this good at 47), and my cute friend Camille!

Casual Blogger Conference-the highlight reel

June 1, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 15 Comments

So, this post is not meant to gloat. Well maybe just a little, but not in a rude way. I am just excited to share some of the fabulous girlies I met at the conference. I came home to discover that I had not taken many pics, so if you are not here, it’s not that I don’t love you!

It all started on Thurs with the GNO. By the end of the night I had found my crafty clan. Did we pretty much stick together the rest of the time. Why yes, we did and I love you all.

Me, Kara (Creations by Kara), Char (Crap I’ve Made), Michelle (Someday Crafts), Ashlee (I’m Topsy Turvy) As you can see Michelle never stopped goofing off, love you Michelle! Don’t worry, I am ghostly pale.

Friday we rounded up a few more darling crafty ladies!
Kari (Ucreate), Becky (I Show Off), Char, Ashlee, Me, Michelle, Kara

And by Saturday we found even more!
Brooke (Crafting Chicks), me, Missy (So You Think You’re Crafty), Maria (Two Peas and Their Pod food blogger, but we love her!), Kara

I finally got to meet the lady who makes my job in YW so dang much easier…Melanie from Sugardoodle. Love her! Sorry about the scary claw hand Mel!

And wait for it…oh ya, we met Cjane! She is such an inspiration! Please bless I did not have that face when we walked up to her! Scary nervous stalker face! Yikes!

And a few honorable mentions:

Amy (The Quilting Diaries) How in the world did I not get a pic with you?!
Amber (Goodnight Moon) Seriously, the friendliest cutest girl ever!
Jessica (Hunduddle Hussy) A special thanks for the bubble gum
April (Secondsister) For great advice in the niche panel
Sarah (Tech4mommies) For a super SEO class, wish we got to chat more!
Vanessa (I Never Grew Up) because I want to be like you when I grow up

And to all those friends who I had met and got to see again! So much fun! A big thanks to Elisa for a fantastical conference!

So, there you have it! A whole slew of super blogs to check out!

Need help…What should son wear for pics?

May 12, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 52 Comments

Pics are being taken Saturday at Wheeler Farm. Please help me choose what to put the child in. The hubs is no help and well, I can’t make a decision. Sorry about the one of each shoe, I was too lazy to change them each time. The actual color of shoe is in the clothes layout pic. And I was too lazy to make him pose for the 15ish options, so judge the outfit not the pose. 😉

Option 1

Specify brown or orange jacket.

Option 2

Option 3-removed based on votes so far. 🙂 See I totally listen!

Option 4

with brown shoes

Now cast your vote. If he looks at these pics in ten years and asks me, “Mom, what were you thinking when you dressed me?!” I will blame you. 😉 JK

PS. Sorry for the giant amount of posts today! And…it’s my blog and I’ll post if I want to, post if I want to, post if I want to *sung to the tune of “It’s My Party and I’ll Cry if I Want to”*

Feature Friday-Blog Swap with Brown Paper Packages

April 2, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 4 Comments

Hello, Tipsy readers!!!

I’m Kierste, from brown paper packages, and I am very excited to be here with you today, and swapping blogs with Michelle. She is so talented, and has so many FUN ideas.

<span class=

I’m wife to an awesome guy, and mom to five adorable kids, including two sets of twins. Like every mother, my life is super busy, but crafting and creating is the way I love to relax and spend my downtime.
Decorating on a budget is a passion of mine. Searching out garage sales, thrift shops, and even the side of the road is fun for me, especially when I find something fabulous to re-finish, re-make, or re-do.

Michelle asked me to answer a few questions:

  • What is your favorite crafting tool or secret weapon? My favorite crafting tool has to be distress ink. It adds depth and dimension to any paper project. Can I pick two? I also LOVE my power sander. I work a lot with wood, and it saves me so much time!
  • What is your favorite Easter candy? I think the question here is which one I don’t like! I love the chocolate Robin eggs…delicious!
  • If you were a hair accessory, what would you be and why? Hmmmm…I would probably say a flower. I like to “cutesy” everything up!

Check out what I’ve been up to lately!

BURLAP TIC-TAC-TOE:

Burlap is all the rage now, and I’m so glad, because I’ve loved it forever! I created this game for my girls, using the initials of their name instead of x’s and o’s. They love it, and it’s perfect for home, or on the go.

TWINE VASE

Twine…another favorite!

FAMILY RULES CANVAS

~With Mother’s Day coming up, here are a couple of really fun gift ideas:

PURSE-SIZED PHOTO HOLDER

Made out of name badge holders, and fancied up with ribbon and scrapbook paper, these are perfect for any mother or grandmother in your life.

WOODEN STOOL MAKEOVER

This stool needed a little face lift, and these darling footprints are the perfect accessory.

So…I’d love to have you come on over and say hi!

Thanks so much, Michelle, for letting me take over your blog today. It has been a pleasure.

Have a great weekend!
