Feature Friday-Blog Swap with Just Sew Sassy

December 17, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 3 Comments

Hello all you fabulous A Little Tipsy fans!! We’re super excited to be posting here today:) We LOVE this blog, and feel honored to have been given the opportunity to share a little something with you!! We’re Staci and Marina from Just Sew Sassy, Make sure you stop by our blog today to see what Michelle is sharing with us!!

Allow us to introduce…

I’m Staci. I’ve been married 7 years to a man I met in Bolivia. You know, just some man. J/K we were missionaries together over in the Santa Cruz mission. I’m now a barely sane SAHM of three darling kiddos 5yrs and younger. Crafty things make me happy, and are probably what help me keep my sanity.

And I’m Marina, I have been married for almost 9 years to my amazing supportive husband. I have two little girls that are the inspiration behind most of my crafty attempts. We are two best friends that love to blog, sew and create…

Stop by Just Sew Sassy on Monday for our “yummies” edition of treats…

Come by on Tuesday for some simple tutorials and projects…

We also have some silly wordless Wednesday posts…

And Thursday Treasures where we highlight some new items from our Etsy shop!!

Michelle asked us to answer some fun questions for Christmas…

What is your favorite crafting tool or secret weapon?

Staci: Hmm, when all else fails, use a hot glue gun! It works on paper, fabric, pretty much anything you need to STAY in place!

Marina: I would have to say my sewing machine! I can always whip something up in no time!

Describe a childhood Christmas memory.

Staci: I wanted a puppy for like my entire childhood existence, and never thought I would have one. So, one EARLY early Christmas morning when I was about 12 yrs old, my parents woke me up by putting the tiniest, cutest, cocker spaniel puppy ever, (still wimpering and crying) right in bed next to me. I was so happy I cried. I would love to do that for my kids someday… (Now I’m the one telling my kids “no” to a puppy).

Marina: Hmmm… I had lots of good ones but for me it would have to be when I got my first 10 speed bike, hahaha I know I’m a nerd but I rode that thing everywhere!

If you were a character from a Christmas special who would you be and why?

Staci: Ok, this is a hard one b/c I’m the nerd that watches all the cutesy, (is that a word) tender, little hallmark specials on TV. So I don’t even know which I would pick. You’ve probably never seen the shows… So I’ll stick to the classics. I would probably be the mother on Home Alone. I feel so frantic, forgetful, and overwhelmed during the Holidays that I could forget a kid (lucky for me, that hasn’t happened yet). Is that a confession or what!! I still LOVE the holidays, frantic or not:)

Marina: That’s a good one! I’m not sure who I would be!

I do adore that ruffly scarf! Thanks to Staci and Marina for swappin’ it up!

Feature Friday-Blog Swap with Less Cake {more frosting}

November 5, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 5 Comments

Hey all you “A Little Tipsy” readers! My name is Ellie G and I blog at Less Cake{more frosting}. Well, that’s not entirely true. My real name is Lara. I thought it would be real cute to blog under an alias. (Made after my initials “LG”)

I’ve realized that it’s less “cute” and more….
hmmmm……reason to explain myself.
But whatever. I always wanted a nick-name, and I’ve NEVER had one. So I gave one to myself.
(in high school I tried to make “Daisy” work for some reason. It was a mistake)

I am a SAHM of two little kiddos. And I pretend that I’m going to be famous one day. I adore my family, Diet Coke, Mickey Mouse, Mod Podge, sugar, and Kenny Rogers. I also would eat frosting without cake, completely. Yep. I have no shame.

I was so excited when Michelle asked me to do a little blog swap with her. Yipee! I had so much fun meeting her recently, and have been a fan of her blog for awhile now. This is super fun for me.

Michelle had a couple questions for me to answer so we could all get better acquainted

  • What is your favorite crafting tool or secret weapon?

This is a toughie. Because I take that word “favorite” so seriously. Like if I pick Mod Podge….then spray paint will be mad at me. Or if I pick glitter, then sticker letters will stop being my friends.
Okay.
Deep breath.
I recently got a Silhouette machine. We are in love. It’s true. I named her “Scarlett”.
{I’m so sorry Mod Podge}

  • What is your favorite accessory?

The true answer is: gigantic earrings. I have a ton of them. My Mom wouldn’t ever let me wear “dangle-ie” earrings. {No explanation has been offered on her part.} But as soon as I could, I started buying them BIG and EXTRA dangle-ie. And I still feel a little sneakee about it!!

  • What is your favorite Thanksgiving tradition?

Okay, I’m gonna just go ahead and say it.
Thanksgiving’s not my favorite.
I know! This is so majorly offensive to some people. (my husband has been known to question my American citizenship over this issue) I’m so sorry. I don’t love turkey. Stuffing. Nope. Football….not my thing. My greatest Thanksgiving ever? My family went to Walt Disney World for Thanksgiving. I was at EPCOT in the morning, and had Tony Romas for dinner. Ahhhh……that was delightful! Can we still be friends?

You can see that one of the main things we do over at Less Cake {more frosting} is share a little honesty. I have no shame in admitting that my kids eat Little Caesars for dinner WAAAYY too much.

But besides all that fun and frolic…..we like to share as many cool things as we can.

I have about 17,000 hobbies. And my blog is the best way to share all of them.

Monday is MANIC MONDAY. I’m a bad housekeeper, but a great organizer…so I usually try to share some little bit of my organizing how-to’s. (partly because “labels” and I are BFF’s forever)

Like this fun system that my kids use for getting chores done….and earning some rewards while they’re at it.

Sometimes we cook a little bit. I’m not a great cook. I am SKILLED at treats!! (and skilled at eating them) But sometimes I cook things that are healthy. Especially if it includes fresh Basil. Yum!

But most of the time we’re doing all things CREATIVE. (oh, and PS….I don’t like the word “crafts”. I don’t know what it is. But that word reminds me of a tacky project that you’re required to do at a church function. So we are “creative” over there. Not crafty.)

Recently I’ve fallen in love with freezer paper stenciling.

I love it when projects are super EASY and super CHEAP!

But I don’t mind tackling a big project either.
(this is my son’s bedroom re-do from this summer!)

Thanks so much, Michelle, for letting me take over for the day.

I’d love to have you stop over and visit me. The door’s always open, and there’s usually something fun to see.

I love to share all the quirky and awesome things that go on around here. But don’t ask me to share my frosting. I gotta draw the line somewhere!

How can you not just fall in love with her? Seriously, she cracks me up and is so very creative. We were meant to be friends.

Comments, Preschool Activities, and Toddler Towels

October 6, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 7 Comments

I just realized that most of your comments are not being emailed to me. I have it set up so I should receive all comments, but apparently it is faulty. Lame-O. Just wanted to say a big thanks for all your fabulous comments and per your request I added a few links to preschool at home activity resources.

Oh and here is a pic for good measure. This is what you get when at Grandma’s you tell your toddler to hop out of the shower and grab a towel off the shelf. He chooses a hand towel that is “his size” so he can “wear it like daddy.”

And yes, I realize that he is freakishly skinny. He chose a cup of grapefruit sections and a clementine for a snack and doesn’t like ice cream. Where did this kid come from?! Our goal is 30 lbs by 3. 😉
