I’m Retiring…

February 7, 2011 By Michelle Barneck 2 Comments

No, no, no, not from blogging. I am retiring as one of the Sassies from SassyScoops. These women are amazing and I love them dearly as do I love Utah’s local businesses, but with two little boys I am hunkering down into mommyhood for a while.

But, retiring for me means opportunity for you! The Sassies are holding a contest for Utah’s Next Top Sassy!! Do you know how much I would love to have my replacement be one of my readers?! It could totally be YOU!

So head on over and get all the deets on how to prove you are up to being Sassy! I may even put in a good word for you. 🙂

The Fab Five-Blogger Style

January 25, 2011 By Michelle Barneck 7 Comments

Thanks to Trop 50 for sponsoring my writing about fabulous bloggers. This year Trop50 is granting 50 fabulous wishes. Click here to enter for a chance to win $1,000 to help grant a friend’s wish!

Now, on to the Fab Five. These are five “crafty” (sorry Lara) bloggers I heart for one reason or another. There are a ton more that I blog stalk regularly so it was hard to choose five, but these are my faves for today.

Cheri at I am Momma Hear Me Roar

Having two boys of my own I love that she has so many fantastic boy ideas! You should see her son’s new room, amazing! She also has adorable accessories for mom, which is super important when you are outnumbered three to one! Someone’s got to up the girly quotient! And let’s face it her blog title is just plain awesomeness. And wait, she lives in UT and I have never met her. How can this be?! Maybe someday.

Char at Crap I’ve Made

This girl has major skills. I would kill (or maybe just slightly mame) to be able to sew like her. Did you see her kids’ Halloween costumes (Santa & Buddy the elf, Slurpee)?! I about died. Mostly, I just love that she does not take herself too seriously and makes me laugh all the time. And I love all the color in her house. (I was lucky enough to sneak over to Bunco one night when they had some friends cancel.) My house is a total snooze in comparison.

Jen at Tatertots and Jello

Jen is the epitome of class. She is such a sweetheart and even invited her readers over for a holiday cookie exchange. No wonder, her house is gorgeous! Her decor is even more beautiful in person, seriously breathtaking! When I grow up and don’t have toddlers who will carry off anything within reach, I would love to decorate like Jen. She is the queen of subway art, decor pillows and pennants Sometimes, she even combines them. Oh, and I would trade closets with her any day! She always looks so put together!

Lara aka Ellie G at Less Cake More Frosting

Less Cake{More Frosting}

In so many ways, Lara and I are totally different. She loves the frosting, I like the cake. She lives on the East side, I dwell on the West. She loves cherry and dislikes cinnamon, switch that around and you’ll find me. But according to Paula Abdul “Opposites Attract” and in this case it is totally true. I have had a friend crush on this girl since the moment I met her. She is hi-larious and has a super cool style (can I pull off that haircut?!), besides the fact that she is an amazing designer! Oh and she loves Disney, so that is always a plus in my book!

Linda at Craftaholics Anonymous

I featured Linda when she was first getting in to blogging and have loved her creations ever since. She gets bonus points because she is from my home town. Linda is master of zippers and gray (which I love, love) and does a mean re-purpose. Plus, she has two little boys, a toddler and a baby just like me.

Don’t forget to enter the 50 Fabulous Wishes contest for a chance to win $1,000 to support a friend’s wish. I was selected for this Tropicana Trop50 sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do. I received compensation to use and facilitate my post.

Blogoversary coming up..

January 20, 2011 By Michelle Barneck 5 Comments

One month from today is my 2nd blogoversary. I can’t believe I have been doing this almost 2 years! So, I am making myself a little goal and a goal not written down (or typed on your blog for all to see) is only a wish. I want to have 2000 public Google friend connect followers, 1000 facebook likes and 1000 twitter followers by February 20th. Doesn’t that have a nice ring to it 2000 public followers for my 2 year anniversary. If I make it, there will be something fantastical in store. Not sure what it will be yet, but remember last time I made a promise like this? My one and only vlog. Gee, wonder why I didn’t continue on with that. 😉

And now for the obligatory blog post pic because let’s face it a post without a pic is like peanut butter without the peanuts.

No worries my peanut butter contains peanuts! “No, seriously, there are peanuts in this?!” Thank you Captain Obvious!

Oh, and happy bday to my big bro Josh. Not that he will ever see this message. 😉

Feature Friday-Blog Swap with Texas Monkey

January 14, 2011 By Michelle Barneck Leave a Comment

Hey Ya’ll I’m so excited to be here with you Little Tipsy Readers and Fans! I myself am a huge fan of Michelle’s, she rocks in every category in my opinion! I’m sure you think so too.

Who am I? I’m Shayna from Texas Monkey, a small but fun blog where I am glamorizing, mesmerizing, and accessorizing my life and home one project at a time. I say Ya’ll and Fixin’ a lot! Hope you’re ok with that. It is a Texas Gal blog after all. I’m also owner of Texas Monkey Boutique where I make and sell handmade accessories for girls, including the girl in you. 😉
I’m married to my teenage sweetheart who is referred to as Poppa and we have one 2 year old little Monkey girl aka Monkey, ahhhh now you see where the name came from? I work full time in accounting but working so hard to make my boutique a successful one where I can be a stay at home mommy working from home. I also publish Macaroni Kid for Dallas. It’s one of the best decisions I ever made, feel free to ask me about it.

Let me share a little about my blog. I call it a pot luck sort of blog, you know like at church pot lucks where there’s a little bit of everything and you want to fill it all on one plate? Yep that’s me.

I love to show my readers projects I’ve done.
Like these Toddler Bookshelves. Which includes a step by step so you too can make them.

And I love throwing parties and journal pretty much every detail I put in them. I’ve done many themes but my favs are the Ladybug Themed Party and the Monkey Themed party.

But I also showcase projects that I want to do someday, projects I know I can do just maybe not today, in posts called Dream Book and then when I actually get around to doing one I of course blog about it in a post called Dream Book Experiment like the shirt below.

I also share tutorials so that my readers can learn how to make things that I too am learning how to make, these get posted on Thursday’s Tutorial Posts like these fun and adorable TuTu Leggings

Or this Ruffled Flowered Collar

On Mondays I have an All About You Monday Link Up Party where you can showcase what you’ve been working on.
I tend to take blogging breaks and can be a slacker at times but I alwaus try to make it up to my readers by good giveaways, recipes, tips, and humor.

I do have a store Texas Monkey Boutique which I like to showcase things I’ve made on my blog and really enjoy creating custom orders for my awesome customers. Feel free to contact me at texasmonkeyboutique@gmail if you have any little girl accessory needs. Like this set I did for a little monkey who was turing 1. So cute.

A lot of my items are custom made so the customer gets that added uniqueness so you won’t find it listed in my online store but I always post pics of items I’ve created on my facebook Fan Page so you can get ideas to request your own unique item. Would love to have you as a fan.
Well that’s a little about me, my blog and my store.

I’d love for ya’ll to stop by my small town blog (you know the kind, where everyone knows everyone and you can always find someone to help you out with whatever you need) and check out my store. Texas Monkey Blog and Texas Monkey Boutique and Texas Monkey Fan Page. If you become a follower or a fan I’d be so honored and will return the favor.

Thank you so much to Michelle for letting me come here and meet all of you wonderful readers! I hope to see you around.
Happy Friday Ya’ll
