Cleaning Your Range Hood In A Minute Flat

April 15, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 7 Comments

Today, while my little one was having a snack, I decided to attack the range hood (You know that thing with the light and fan in it about the stove) with a much needed cleaning. I pulled out my trusty Lysol wipes, but they just weren’t getting the job done. They just kind of smeared the gunk around. I knew I did not have any degreaser on hand so I went on a search for something else to try. I came upon my goo gone (from the dollar store of course) and it was amazing.

Just a dab of it on a paper towel cleaned the whole hood (well the top of it at least, underneath is a whole other post!) in under a minute. I was very pleased that I was able to get something done before I heard “up” from the highchair. Yay for super fast chores!

I’ve heard so many good things about Goo Gone–I think I need to make a trip to the dollar store.

    Kara-
I have not tried it on the microwave, but there is only one way to find out! I do have a trick for the microwave too. I will post it.

I love Goo Gone!! One time when I was little, my parents washed our Easter Dresses my mom had just purchased… 5 little pink dresses. My sister had left gum in her jeans the load previous and without knowing my parents threw the load into the dryer and all the goey gum got all over the dresses. My mom was so upset. Her and my dad tried for hours on Saturday night to get the gum out so we could wear them to church. Finally they purchased Goo Gone… and it all came out! Ever since… we love the stuff!! Only I don’t think I have ever used it on anything but clothing and carpet… I will have to “venture” out.

This has to be one of the best tips I have ever read! In our old apartment I spent WEEKS trying to get the over range hood clean. and I finally gave up. I never thought of this. Awesome!

The only thing that worked for my own range hood was the earlier mentioned MAGIC ERASERS. They’re WONDERFUL!!
