Without further adeiu, an ode to the Snowman.
I grew up with a little song called “Once There was a Snowman.” Are you with me here?
Once there was a snowman, snowman, snowman.
Once there was a snowman tall, tall, tall.
In the sun he melted, melted, melted.
In the sun he melted small, small, small.
Lyrical genius right?
I saw the donuts with the carrot nose and thought an expansion on that idea would be the perfect homage to said song.
{Donut Snowman on a Stick}
CAREFULLY (two donuts were harmed in the making of this snowman) skewer three powder donuts.
Cut a baby carrot in half and put in hole for nose. Add grape Nerd eyes and mouth to look like coal. You my need a dob of frosting or honey to hold them in place.

Add a green apple sour straw as a scarf. Break a toothpick in half and secure the scarf by poking the toothpick through the straw and in to the donut on the top where they overlap and on the bottom of the piece that hangs down the front. You can see the tiny dot of the toothpick on the bottom of the scarf.

Add two red jawbreakers as buttons.
Place in a treat bag with a bow and pass out to your friends.
They will have all sorts of fun singing the song and gobbling him up small, small, small.

General Conference Activity

September 25, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 13 Comments

It’s that time again! LDS General Conference is almost here and I am always looking for things to entertain the kids. Here is a fall themed coloring page I made for an easy printableĀ General Conference Activity. Who doesn’t love a little pumpin this time of year?!

I love to have coloring pages that include words to listen for during general conference. It is easy to color for my little pre-readers, but also has something a little more challenging for the kids who can read. I find it helps them listen to the talks and pick out the topics discussed during conference.

Here are some more great General Conference activites:

General Conference Activities for Kids-Temple Sewing Card and First Presidency Coloring Page

September 24, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 15 Comments

LDS General Conference can always be a tough time for kids. It can be difficult to keep them quiet and reverent during sessions for two days. We can all use some ideas and activities to keep the little ones interested and engaged. I created a couple of General Conference Activities for kids.

First off, I made a temple sewing card by adding dots to a Salt Lake temple image from Mormon Share. I printed it on a piece of 4×6 photo paper so it would have some strength. Then, laminated it using clear contact paper. Then, I punched holes where the dots were.

I took a piece of 3/8 inch ribbon and rolled one end and taped it so it would be like the end of a shoelace. Then, I tied it to the bottom corner.

Then, I gave it the ultimate test with the little guy. He loved it!

I also wanted a President Monson coloring page. Many of the ones I had seen did not look much like him, or did not have him smiling. Many of the pictures are so serious and I wanted my little boy to see his prophet happy and full of love. I found this picture of the First Presidency from the press conference when President Thomas S. Monson was called and immediately fell in love it. I threw it in to Photoshop and played with it until it looked like something to color.

I hope you have a wonderful conference next weekend!! I know I am looking forward to it!
