April Visiting Teaching Handout: Seeking and Receiving Personal Revelation

April 5, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 6 Comments

A brand new month which means a brand new Visiting Teaching Message. This month’s theme centers on Seeking and Receiving Personal Revelation. For my April Visiting Teaching Handout I used a quote from President Boyd K. Packer. I may be biased because he is my Great Uncle, but I just love his words here!

free “Wish I were taller” font from Kevin & Amanda.

I love how President Packer says that inspiration is more of a feeling than a sound. I think sometimes we think inspiration and revelation will come to us as a voice in our head, but it can come so many more way: feelings of peace, warmth, happiness, etc. Revelation does not come the same way to everyone and may come differently each time to the same person.

In the recent YW auxillary training, Elaine S. Dalton (General Young Women’s President) expressed that she receives revelation differently each time. We have to keep spiritual things a priority and make sure we have some time to ponder so we don’t miss these promptings. Sister Dalton also said, “Don’t get caught in the thick of thin things.” I love that! It is so easy to let our days get filled with small things that sometimes the big things slide.

I hope you were all uplifted by General Conference this weekend as I was. Our leaders are so wise and what wonderful messages they shared with us. I look forward to the future with faith and hope and a renewed sense of just how important my influence as a Mother and faithful daughter of God can be!

March Visiting Teaching Personal Scripture Study Handout

March 3, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 3 Comments

So, I was lazy in February and did not do a handout, but I have repented and here I am on the 3rd day of the month with a March Visiting Teaching Handout. This month the message is on Strengthening faith through personal scripture study. Lucky for me we have a program in YW that keeps me accountable to someone besides myself which has really helped me to keep up on my 5 minutes per day scripture study.

Feel free to print and use it if you like! I got it up in time for all you Visiting Teaching early birds!

January Visiting Teaching Handout-Becoming Self-Reliant

January 6, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 5 Comments

I think this month’s Visiting Teaching message about becoming self-reliant is so fitting since many of us have goals and resolutions that have to do with debt, food storage, being prepared, etc. I think the recession has put self-reliance at the forefront showing us how important it is to have a plan to take care of ourselves in all kinds of situations, economic or otherwise.

This VT handout is quite wordy because I just couldn’t narrow it down. The quotes are all good! Feel free to print of the handout and use it! I won’t make you be self-reliant handout wise. 😉 Here is a link if you want to read the entire January Visiting Teaching Message.

December Visiting Teaching Handout-Nurture Through Compassionate Service

December 5, 2009 By Michelle Barneck 2 Comments

It is time again for the Visiting Teaching Message handout. This month it is on nurturing through compassionate service and I love this quote from Russell M. Nelson. It makes me feel like my job as a mother is not only important, but inspired. I wanted to do a winter theme so that your sisters could keep it up past Christmas if they would like to. And because these colors feel so angelic to me.

I hope that through the hustle and bustle of Christmas time that we can find time to serve others. My husband laughed at me because I told him letting a car pull out in front of us in the parking lot and letting someone go in front of us in line at Costco was service. Hey, every little thing counts right.

Oh and here are some cute little gift options to accompany it if you would like…

Snow Drift Candles from Living with Lindsay
She sells them in her etsy shop, but they would be fairly simple to make too.

Or check the neighbor gift post below for more ideas. If you are partial to treats, there are some cute snowman treats coming soon!!
