April Visiting Teaching Handout: Seeking and Receiving Personal Revelation

April 5, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 6 Comments

A brand new month which means a brand new Visiting Teaching Message. This month’s theme centers on Seeking and Receiving Personal Revelation. For my April Visiting Teaching Handout I used a quote from President Boyd K. Packer. I may be biased because he is my Great Uncle, but I just love his words here!

Made in Photoshop using the Free Doodle Fresh Kit and the
free “Wish I were taller” font from Kevin & Amanda.

I love how President Packer says that inspiration is more of a feeling than a sound. I think sometimes we think inspiration and revelation will come to us as a voice in our head, but it can come so many more way: feelings of peace, warmth, happiness, etc. Revelation does not come the same way to everyone and may come differently each time to the same person.

In the recent YW auxillary training, Elaine S. Dalton (General Young Women’s President) expressed that she receives revelation differently each time. We have to keep spiritual things a priority and make sure we have some time to ponder so we don’t miss these promptings. Sister Dalton also said, “Don’t get caught in the thick of thin things.” I love that! It is so easy to let our days get filled with small things that sometimes the big things slide.

I hope you were all uplifted by General Conference this weekend as I was. Our leaders are so wise and what wonderful messages they shared with us. I look forward to the future with faith and hope and a renewed sense of just how important my influence as a Mother and faithful daughter of God can be!

Feature Friday-Blog Swap with Brown Paper Packages

April 2, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 4 Comments

Hello, Tipsy readers!!!

I’m Kierste, from brown paper packages, and I am very excited to be here with you today, and swapping blogs with Michelle. She is so talented, and has so many FUN ideas.

<span class=

I’m wife to an awesome guy, and mom to five adorable kids, including two sets of twins. Like every mother, my life is super busy, but crafting and creating is the way I love to relax and spend my downtime.
Decorating on a budget is a passion of mine. Searching out garage sales, thrift shops, and even the side of the road is fun for me, especially when I find something fabulous to re-finish, re-make, or re-do.

Michelle asked me to answer a few questions:

  • What is your favorite crafting tool or secret weapon? My favorite crafting tool has to be distress ink. It adds depth and dimension to any paper project. Can I pick two? I also LOVE my power sander. I work a lot with wood, and it saves me so much time!
  • What is your favorite Easter candy? I think the question here is which one I don’t like! I love the chocolate Robin eggs…delicious!
  • If you were a hair accessory, what would you be and why? Hmmmm…I would probably say a flower. I like to “cutesy” everything up!

Check out what I’ve been up to lately!

BURLAP TIC-TAC-TOE:

Burlap is all the rage now, and I’m so glad, because I’ve loved it forever! I created this game for my girls, using the initials of their name instead of x’s and o’s. They love it, and it’s perfect for home, or on the go.

TWINE VASE

Twine…another favorite!

~With Mother’s Day coming up, here are a couple of really fun gift ideas:

PURSE-SIZED PHOTO HOLDER

Made out of name badge holders, and fancied up with ribbon and scrapbook paper, these are perfect for any mother or grandmother in your life.

WOODEN STOOL MAKEOVER

This stool needed a little face lift, and these darling footprints are the perfect accessory.

So…I’d love to have you come on over and say hi!

Thanks so much, Michelle, for letting me take over your blog today. It has been a pleasure.

Have a great weekend!

Mikarose $60 GC Giveaway: Happy Easter Dress to you!

March 30, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 117 Comments

Guess what I have in store for you?! A fun giveaway for Easter time. I am really excited about this one and wish I could win. No really. I could tell you exactly what I would order with my $60 gift card to Mikarose…

Emily<span class=The ZoeThe Daisy

Ok, so I would shop from the clearance section, but that is only because I LOVE what is in it and hello, I could get 4 things for $60ish bucks! I am in love with that black and white dress. No really, it is almost unhealthy how much I adore it. Love the spring hooded top and I will have a little girl someday right?!

Now if you banned me from the clearance section, I would go for…

EvaStyle # 3002Style # 2005

this, or this, or this. Do we see a trend here with the black and white. Or maybe I just secretly want to be blonde. Nah. I love how Mikarose incorporates classic silhouettes and modern design while keeping everything modest and beautiful.

So, enough about me. It’s your chance to win!

To enter: Head over to Mikarose and come back and leave a comment on this post telling me what dress you like and why.

That’s it! I am making it easy on ya! The giveaway will end on Wed, April 7th. Good luck!
