North Pole Express

December 11, 2012 By Michelle Barneck 1 Comment

Have you ever ridden the North Pole Express run by Heber Valley Railroad? We got to a few days ago and had a lot of fun.

We boarded the train and got going along. Santa’s helper was on the mic leading us in Christmas carols and sharing stories. The elves Holly and Jolly handed out Mrs. Claus special cookies and hot chocolate. The elves were really fun and dances with my kiddos in the aisle. After a while we spotted Santa! He climbed aboard to visit all the kids and give them a little jingle bell. Santa was great! He took his time with each family and was fabulous with my kids. We headed back and Mrs. Claus came by for a visit. My little ones thought it was great!

Here are my tips if you have the chance to go…

  • Tickets are highly discounted on off peak days.
  • Arrive at least a half hour early to pick up your tickets, use the restroom (there isn’t one on the train) and get in line for your train car.
  • Car seats and strollers are not allowed on trains so bring a sling or be prepped to hold babies.
  • Take pictures before you leave if you are on the early train to make best use of the light.
  • The benches turn around if you push on them so you can have two facing each other.
  • If you stand up when Santa comes by, Santa can sit by your kids and it is easier to get good pictures.
  • If you have family members who are sound sensitive, bring ear plugs. A train car full of kids with jingle bells is really loud.
Thanks Heber Valley Railroad for a fun ride!
Disclosure: We were provided tickets for the North Pole Express, the opinions are all mine.

Coupon & Promo Codes

November 15, 2012 By Michelle Barneck 1 Comment

I am a Black Friday shopper. I get up early go out and wait in a long line in the freezing cold to rush in to a store and fight over discounted merchandise. Heck, sometimes I don’t even need anything I just go with my sister’s to help them in their quest and experience a nice adrenaline rush. I even once stole a portable dvd player from a child (well, he was like 10ish). Granted he and his mother were a few people behind me in the portable DVD player line and once it started moving she sent him wiggling his way through to the front and he grabbed six. I just needed one and was left empty handed because of him so I figured taking one of the top of his pile was just. I’m not proud. Here is your opportunity to shun.

So I have discovered the last year or two the joys of online Black Friday. You can get many of the same deals from the comfort of your own home with a few strategic clicks. What’s better than that? Well, his year I discovered Black Friday shopping with Coupon Codes. What? You can do that? Yes, my dearies, you can. CouponCodes4u is a free service specializing in good deals, discounts and has an extensive range of coupons, sales and exclusive discounts, even for Black Friday. Crazy.

CouponCodes4u.com - The 1st stop before you shop

Here are just a few of the stores I found listed…

  • Aeropostale
  • Nike
  • Sears
  • Nordstrom
  • Expedia
  • Cabela’s
  • Nautica
  • The Body Shop
  • Levi’s
  • Macy’s
  • Mattel
  • Disney Store
  • The Children’s Place
  • Hotels.com
  • Walgreen’s
  • Land’s End

I plan on getting Promo Codes for Amazon. They have a bundle listed. I am a proud Amazon prime member and usually end up doing like half of my holiday shopping there (thank you wish lists, lightning deals, and free two day shipping) so that was a bonus find for me.

So, join me fellow deal seekers and shop Black Friday in your jammies. ๐Ÿ™‚

Disclosure: I was compensated for this post, but the opinions and excitement are all mine.

Kid Chatteroo

October 22, 2012 By Michelle Barneck 1 Comment

I am so super delighted to tell you that my cute friend Kirsten from Crafting Chicks created an app and it launches today!! She has been working her tail off on it and it’s finally done. Not only is she one of the cutest girls I know, but her app idea totally rocks!

KID CHATTEROO is fun to play at bedtime, dinnertime and snuggletime. Easily turn those potentially โ€œtime-wastingโ€ moments such as amusement park lines, waiting rooms, car rides,  into meaningful moments. Use KID CHATTEROO anytime and anywhere you want to connect with your kids. Capture those little voice recordings with an easy-to-use recording feature, itโ€™s like capturing time in a bottle.

Here are examples of some of the fun questions and answers you might experience with Kid Chatteroo:

  • If you ate a rainbow what would it taste like?
    • Aiden age 5: “Nothing, because they’re clear and when you put your hand on them it just goes through.”
    • Benny age 5:  “really good burritos”
    • Delany age 3:  “chicken”
  • If you lived in candy land what would you build your house out of?
    • Aiden: “For wood, it would be candy canes.”
    • Delany:  “a rainbow”
    • age 3: “popcorn”
  • What are you most excited for?
    • Aiden: “Easy, Halloween.”
    • Delany:  “my birthday cake”
    • Benny:  “everything”
  • What is the silliest thing about Dad?
    • Aiden: “He toots so loud.”
    • Delany: “He scares me with a {Halloween }mask all the time.”
  • Why are moms so super?
    • Aiden: “That’s really hard, I think we should skip that one.”
    • Delany:  “Cuz you’re awesome. And I like Aunt Kristi more.”
  • If animals could talk, which one would you talk to and what would you say?
    • Aiden:”Ribbit, ribbit to a frog.”
    • Delany:  “Monkey: Dora has shoes”
  • If you were a princess/knight what would your castle look like?
    • Aiden: “Like the castle in Brave or a giant rectangle with two towers with lots of squares on top.”
    • Delany:  “Purple”
  • If you ate a rain cloud what would it taste like?
    • Aiden: “Rain, I meant water because rain is water.”
    • Delany “watermelon”
    • age 3: “Yucky Stuff”
  • Why do dogs have a tail?
    • Aiden: “To show when they like someone.”
    • Delany:  “Cuz they um, they swish them around”
  • What is your favorite thing to do with mom?
    • Aiden: “Aiden time.”
    • Delany:  “Go on a walk to Circle K to get a pop”
    • age 3: “LAUGH”

I love the idea of having their cute little voices and silly answers recorded to keep forever. And the fact that it is easy as pushing a button on your phone is a huge bonus! And 99 cents? Please. I spend that on a candy bar in the checkout.

Check out the app and if you like it, tell her by giving her a 5 star rating! Catch them around the web too!
