Snapware Ribbon Dispenser and Cupcake Carrier Review/Giveaway

August 25, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 109 Comments

I was so excited when Snapware contacted me to review their Ribbon Dispenser and Cookie & Cupcake Carrier. I love a good organizational tool and these products really impressed me.

Let’s start off with the ribbon dispenser. I included this piece of the packaging to show it’s many uses. I decided to do spools of ribbon on top and scraps underneath.

I have been looking for a good ribbon organization solution for a while now. I just wish I had a few more of these ribbon dispensers to snap together! I fit 12 spools of ribbon in this one carrier! I chose to house my thin ribbon (that I use a lot for weddings, baby showers and YW beehive introduction packets) threading multiple through each slot. Don’t worry it can house the big spools too.

This was so easy to put together. The spools glide and the lids snap shut with ease. This is not that cheap thin plastic that is going to break or crack after a few uses. I also love that Snapware products are made in the USA!

Now on to the cookie & cupcake carrier. This thing is awesome! It can carry 24 cupcakes, multiple batches of cookies and brownies, or two 1/4 sheet cakes. Again the packaging below demonstrates better than I could (click on image to enlarge). I love the option to lift the inserts with the handles or with the finger slots. Ingenious!

I got to try it out making cupcakes for a birthday party for my Dad and Sister. I made my Dad’s childhood favorite, Chocolate Walnut for 20 family members. Don’t they look great in each in their own little spot?!

I loaded them up for their drive 15 minutes across town, including freeway and construction zones. I wanted to give the cupcake carrier the true test and put them in the back seat with no one guarding them.

They arrived unscathed and I was sold. When I brought them in I just pulled out the tray and put them on the counter for serving. My Sis was super impressed and said she loves the Snapware containers for ornaments.

Now you know I love to share the products I love and Snapware is making this possible. They are giving away a
Cookie & Cupcake Carrier
to one lucky reader!

(shipping must be within the continental US)

I know all those who attended Steph’s Cupcake Conference at the Grand America would love one of these!!

Flirty Apron Review & Giveaway

July 7, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 241 Comments

Up until this point in my marriage I have been donning an apron that did the job, but did not add anything to my life. It involved a picture of a farm couple and cows for heavens sake. So, when Flirty Aprons asked me to do a review I agreed with a smile.

They have so many fun designs to choose from, I honestly had a hard time choosing.

They even have fun aprons for men and kiddos!

I chose the sassy black and seriously this is what an apron should be like! Something that’s not just functional, but makes you feel like you could bake all day, well, because you look hot!

Don’t you just love it with the brown polka dot dress. haha.

Love that it has pockets.
Love the ruffles.
Love that it ties up top so I can adjust it based on how big the belly becomes. πŸ˜‰

Now how could I show something this cute and not share?! I get to giveaway an apron of your choice! Pretty snazzy, eh?!

Leave a separate comment for each entry with your email. If I draw your name and cannot find your email I will draw someone else.

Mandatory entry:

  • Visit Flirty Aprons and tell me which one you would choose. (The women’s sassy black, chic pink and cocoa lime are not available for this giveaway. But, any others that are in stock are, including men’s or children’s.)

Extra entries:

  • Follow A Little Tipsy
  • “Like” me on Facebook
  • Tweet or Facebook about this giveaway and leave the link

Good luck! The giveaway closes Wednesday, July 14th.

Uncle Ben’s Brown Rice Review

June 23, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 2 Comments

When Mom Central invited me to review Uncle Ben’s Brown Rice, I was excited to do so! I have really been trying to find fast and easy ways to incorporate healthier foods in to our diet. Brown rice is a great source of whole grain and thus a good switch to make.

“To give home cooks the choice, Uncle Ben’s has developed a few types of whole grain brown rice – Natural Whole Grain Brown, with the traditional cook time (30 minutes), plus Fast & Natural Instant Brown Rice and Boil-In-Bag Whole Grain Brown Rice (both ready in 10 minutes) so you can decide which type of brown rice fits the type of meal you are preparing, but still know that you’re getting whole grains on the table.”

Over the last week, I have made meals using both the traditional brown rice and the fast brown rice and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

First, I made sirloin and rice with the Fast & Natural rice. I was running behind getting dinner on the table and it was so fast! I had dinner on the table in 20 minutes. My little one was so anxious to try it you can see him trying to snatch it away in the picture.

Here’s a little video of him eating it. Sorry about the huge bite and talking with mouth full.

I used the traditional brown rice to make Chicken Fried Rice (one of the few ways I will eat cooked peas or scrambled eggs) which was another big hit. After the fast rice turning out so well I was worried that this one would have more of the brown rice tinge, but it was just as good as with white rice. The boys loved having Chinese night pairing the Fried rice with Egg Drop Soup.

Sometimes, picky eaters will cringe at brown rice, but the texture and taste of this rice is really great! My family could not even tell the difference. I think this will be one healthy substitution that will be seamless in our household. I would recommend giving them a try and see if you can fool your family!

FTC Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of Uncle Ben’s and received samples to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
