Halftee

December 1, 2011 By Michelle Barneck 124 Comments

What in the heck is a Halftee?

Glad you asked. I wondered the same thing when Halftee contacted me to see if I would like to try out their shirts. Why would I want half a shirt, I thought. I was a skeptic. I didn’t get it, but admittedly I am now a believer.
I remembered a friend saying she loved halftees, especially under dresses. Ok, I thought. I’ll be nice and give it a whirl. Um, love. No, really. I will not go back! I wore one under a dress Sunday and loved it so much I wanted to wear it again on Tuesday, but it was in the laundry. Sad day. I wore one again this Sunday and loved it just as much!
I love to layer, but hate the fussing with the undershirt creeping up or unflattering seams under your dress. I also have an issue with overheating. You’d think I was effected by early onset menopause. The 3/4 sleeve have been perfect for me. Keeps me warm in the crisp air, but I don’t get hot inside. It’s great!
I want you to try it for yourself because really it’s the only way to understand.

Halftee is giving one lucky reader two shirts of their choice!

Paper Coterie Giveaway {$30 for EVERYONE!}

November 10, 2011 By Michelle Barneck 7 Comments

I am so excited about this I can barely contain myself! My friends at Paper Coterie have an early Christmas gift for ALL of you. We’re talking epic holiday generosity, but first let me show you how truly awesome it actually is.

These are my Christmas Cards…

family pictures by Cioco Photography
Totally swanky right? Beautiful subway art cutouts. Heavy duty cardstock. Quality Printing. On point design. There is not enough to say about how much I love these cards. No really, LOVE, love these cards! This is one of the first years that I am genuinely excited to send out Christmas cards. How can I not be? They are gorgeous and totally fit our family and the simple message we want to share for the holidays.
There was just one problem with my ordering them from Paper Coterie. There were too many choices that I adored. No seriously, I literally sat there starring at my screen for an hour trying to decide. There were requests for weigh ins from my husband on a few different occasions until I drove him batty.
Here are the runners up in no particular order because I still can’t let go of how cute they are.

Adam said…

First, what an amazing blog I’ve stumbled upon! I LOVE the photos on metal. I’m all about new, unique, non-conventional ways to make or display things. It would be such a blessing to have a new family portrait for our home…especially with the third, and final installment to our family-6 month old Baby Suza!
Thanks!

Congratulations!

Pictures on Metal {11×14 Metal Art Giveaway}

November 3, 2011 By Michelle Barneck 176 Comments

Now this excites me! Have you seen this new trend of pictures on metal?! Seriously cool. You can print your own photos on metal! It gives them a super sleek and modern look while still showing off those you love most!

I ordered this piece from Fullerton Photographics using an image from our recent photo shoot with Cioco Photography to go in our game room. I love how playful it is with the metal photo cutout mounted on another metal sheet.
I absolutely LOVE how it turned out! The framing and sheen are right on point! And frankly, the price point doesn’t break the bank either (especially with the awesome coupon they are offering below). This 11×14 mounted cutout runs $62.50. The metal art prices start at just $9.50. Talk about a cool gift! Get a pic of the family for the grandparents or one for dad’s desk at work.
See for yourself…

Fullerton Photographics is offering $10 off any order of $35 or more through 12/10 for holiday shopping! Nice! I may have to get some more pictures on metal! The coupon code is LITLETIPSDISC or in store just mention A Little Tipsy or the coupon code.

Win your own Metal Photo!

Fullerton Photographics is giving away an 11×14 Metal Art Squared (like mine or with a rectangle mounted) to one lucky Tipsy reader!

LeapFrog My Own Story Time Pad Review

October 24, 2011 By Michelle Barneck 3 Comments

My almost 4 year old got the Tag reading system for Christmas last year and loved it so I was eager to see what he would think of the Leap Frog My Own Story Time Pad.

With Daddy being a software developer and getting his master’s in Computer Science and Mommy being a blogger he is well aware of the technology that surrounds him. The other day he told me he wanted to start his own blog so he could have his own computer. Well buddy, here ya go. 😉

Right when I pulled it out of the shipping box, he said, “a computer!” He would not even let me take it out of the packaging before he got a turn with it. I was amazed at how he immediately knew what to do with it. It tells them what buttons to push to continue stories or play music so he didn’t need any help and mom did not even have to read the instructions.

Things we love about it:
  • Two volume settings…priceless!
  • Shape is easy for little hands to hold.
  • Looks like a Tablet so he thinks it is his cool computer.
  • Says his name and knows things like his favorite food and color
  • Upload 3 “emails,” 5 stories, 4 sing a long songs, and 5 melodies.
  • Notes sections where he gets to type letters to write his own story.
  • Little Brother loves watching him and sneaks in his turn while he isn’t looking.
  • No batteries or instructions needed to get started or {at least for me} to upload content.
  • The cable to connect it to the computer has LeapFrog stamped on it and also lists the site to go to. No having to keep track of what cable it is or where to go.
  • It was super easy to get out of the package. No 15 twist ties, tape, or creative sewing.
  • The price is reasonable for what is does. (under $30 and the pink one is cheaper on Amazon)
Things that could improve:
  • Some melodies were annoying, but we just didn’t choose those ones.
  • No space bar or punctuation, so the notes can only be a jumble of letters and it does not save them.
  • More personalization options for the emails.

Don’t you love his oversized t-shirt paint smock?

All in all, I think it is a fun toy with a greater purpose. Lucky for me, we have a DVR and watch channels without toy commercials so we have thus far avoided the ‘got to have it’ toy of the year rage. (BTW, how is it that it always ends up being something so dumb?!) So if you are looking for something fun, that is more than a motorized hamster or a pillow that folds inside itself to become a pet, this is a good choice!

Thank you to LeapFrog for sponsoring this review. While LeapFrog provided the product to me for this review, the opinions I’ve expressed here are solely my own and represent my honest point of view. Clever Girls Collective supports Blog With Integrity. #MyOwnStoryTimePad #spon
