Giving Your Office a Little Personality

October 3, 2012 By Michelle Barneck Leave a Comment

I am a strong believer that the rooms in your home should reflect you. It should be filled with things you love and memories you hold dear. Even an office space can be filled with personality and items that tell a story and spark a memory.

Like these photo booth props. They sit on my windowsill, a souvenir from my little man’s first birthday party.

On the wall is a place to store pictures from my older son who I think is the most talented artist.

A super hero mask my little guy made me from scraps reminds me that I can do great things.

A tiny crown on my computer monitor (another one of my kid’s creations) reminding me not only of how special they are to me, but the times they make me feel so special.

Magnets of iconic buildings and a certain cartoon mouse show my love of travel. A note that reads “Advertising helps me decide” stems from my very first post college job where my co-worker Ashley introduced me to a hilarious t-shirt website which has since closed up shop. I may or may not have purchased said t-shirt being an advertising major and all.
A few small  things can go a long way to personalize your space and make it tell a story.

Update Office Accessories with Spray Paint

October 1, 2012 By Michelle Barneck 2 Comments

If you have read more than a couple of my posts you are well aware that I am a budget kind of girl. I figure why spend money if you don’t have to? During my craft room/office update I made good use of my trusty sidekick Mr. Spray Paint. It can give new life and use to all sort of items as you’ll see throughout this post.
I had these office accessories on hand, but I was over the black and needed a color that would flow better in my space and be a little more soothing.
A can of Rustoleum Ultra Cover 2x in Satin Granite was the answer. I love the dark gray against the barely gray walls.
I also used it on some non-conventional items. The best way to describe the former color of this 75 cent thrift store lazy susan is putrescence. It is totally thanking me for taking it out of it’s misery.

And can you guess what I used to hold my decorative tapes?

Yes friends, I spray painted a Pringles can. It was the perfect size!
These accessories were the perfect addition to my office update.
What have you updated with spray paint?
