2011 Mutual Theme Subway Art

December 12, 2010 By Michelle Barneck 12 Comments

I wanted something special to give our young women at our Christmas lesson. Each year we give them something that reflects the next year’s mutual theme. The 2011 mutual theme is the 13th Article of Faith so I thought it would be really cool to go with the latest craze and turn the key words in to subway art.

It was so easy to create the mutual theme subway art using wordle. I just popped in my words, listing twice the words I wanted larger. Then I played with layouts and color schemes. I stuck with black and white to keep the emphasis on the words instead of the colors. This will also make it easy to print at home without plowing through my colored ink keeping the cost minimal.

I am going to print our subway art on cardstock and put it in black dollar store frames. I may find a two sided one and put the pictures we took of our girls at the temple in the other side.

Total cost will be just over a dollar each! Yay!

If you want to download it straight from wordle, click the icon below.

I have always stayed up late working on them with my last YW adviser Amanda who was released a few months ago. She had her adorable baby girl on the same day I had my little guy. Miss you girl! Wanna come put subway art in frames for old times sake? 😉

Here is a slideshow I made for the 2008 lesson as my Personal Progress Faith Value Project. This was the lesson where we gave out the believe blocks. The music is “You Were Always There” from the Jenny Phillips Parables cd. I LOVE this song!

    Jennifer-
I opened it in a new window, made it full screen, then took a screen shot and put it in Photoshop and saved it. There are probably other ways too. That’s just how I did it.

Michelle, you are one creative gal. I just got put in as a Mia Maid advisor today. I am so excited to be serving in YW after over 4 years of serving in Primary Presidencies. Thanks for the darling little idea! You are the best!

    The six of us-

Unfortunately, I’m not sure where the file is. I made the slide show two years ago. What I do know is it would be too big to email. I got the video clip from my family blog where I posted it when I made it. Sorry that’s all I can offer at this point.

Hi Michelle, it was so good to meet you. The cookie exchange was a great idea. I’m so glad Jen had it. My kids have loved taste testing them. I’m not sure how long they’re going to last. I love this idea for the YW. I was released a few months ago but I still have 2 girls in. This would be a beautiful gift for them to have in their rooms. I would love to do a blog swap with you. Let’s think of a time in January. Now I’m going to look around your blog some more and of course I had to subscribe to it now so I can keep up on things.
