Live Green Winner and Two Deliciously Healthy Drinks (Giveaway now closed)

The winner of the Live Green Together prize pack from Cascadian Farms is...

Vindiciti said... I will switch from plastic bags to reusable fabric bags. Congrats!

And since we are on a kick for living green and healthy lives, have you seen either of these products in your local stores?

(Is that not the coolest bubble bottle?!)

We were asked to try each of these products and well...the results please.

I was excited to read up on pomegranate juice because I had heard so many wonderful things about it. I am always happy to include good antioxidants in to our diets and when I saw this chart I was blown away!
<span class=
POM Wonderful must be some pretty dang good stuff, but how does it taste? My little guy and I didn't mind it straight, but my husband gagged after one sip. I decided to take a different approach to antioxidant packing that would be a more widespread success after being inspired by my friend Vanessa's Pomegranate Flax Shake (only to realize that when I searched for the recipe it was actually a Cranberry Flax Seed shake.)

Pomegranate Blueberry Shake Recipe:

1 Cup Vanilla ice cream
1/2 Cup POM Wonderful pomegranate juice
1/2 Cup blueberries
Blend in blender or food processor until smooth.

This was a big hit, even with the hubs! We have had them twice since! I laughed to see that they have a recipe for a Pomegranate blueberry smoothie on their front page!

I was also really excited to try the Horizon low-fat Chocolate Milk with DHA-Omega 3. I was happy to find it at my favorite local grocery store int he organic section. I think this little video of my little guy pretty much says it all.

video

He is really picky about milk and will only drink it from a local source called Winder Dairy (all-natural milk that's free of artificial growth hormones and antibiotics), so I was not sure how this would go. (Little stinker, he won't drink the $1.75 store brand gallon, but he will drink the $3.99 local dairy one) I handed him a cup of the Horizon Chocolate milk and he would not set it down. It's like he knows the good stuff.

I really liked it and the fact that it is organic and contains Omega-3 makes me feel good especially because I am not much of a fish eater. The milk is sweetened with cane juice which I think tastes different than the regular sugar in other chocolate milks. I think it seems a bit sweeter. Though when I asked my husband what he thought of the chocolate milk he said it did not taste as sweet as other brands. I guess every one's taste buds are different. All in all, we drank up our bottles and I am excited to use my coupons to get more!

And guess what?! Horizon wants to give 3 of you the opportunity to try the chocolate milk with DHA FREE too! Each winner will receive 2 free half gallon coupons and 2 $1 off coupons. In addition to the coupons, one of the winners will also receive a red Horizon branded Chicobag and a branded Rubik's Cube key chain.

Wow! That's so cool! Thank you! I love trying healthy alternatives, but am leery about bpa plastic which usually wraps organic food. Milk, however, is a different story! It doesn't come in bags, unless you're my kid's old elementary school. LOL! I can't wait to try the POM recipe.

Oh, is Horizon the milk they have at Starbucks in little boxes? If so, then I've tried vanilla, and it was yum! So glad that I started following you. :D

I would love to try this milk. My son is not a big fan of milk, he'll only drink it if it's chocolate milk. :)

I ...correction - MY boys would love to try this milk! They are big fans of the plain horizon milk and I'm sure they would think mom was pretty cool if she got it to come out of the carton chocolate. ;) Thanks for the opportunity.

My husband is studying global warming for his master's thesis, and has recently gotten on a major all-natural, organic, recycling, granola kick. I'd love to try this milk and see if we like it!
