Your front door is the first thing people see and for many, the only thing they will see. Why not have it make a statement? Personalize it with a monogram and add a little flair with some polka dot pots. This is such an economical idea that makes a big difference!
This project was inspired by this front door I found on one of my fav blogs to check out…Reinvented (also featured on Today’s Creative Blog). Her black and white theme is amazing, but my house is yellow so I went with navy blue. I also did mine on a much smaller scale because I had all of these items on hand.
Supplies needed for PolKa Dot FloWer PoTs:
- Pots of any size
- Acrylic paints
- Sponge brush
- Modge podge
I started with some pots I had lying around that I had tried to grow spices in, unsuccessfully.
I painted them with one sloppy coat.
Then, added a second coat. Next, came the polka dots. I found the easiest way was to dip a small foam brush in white paint, touch it to the pot and twirl in place. It takes a little practice at first, but once you get the hang of it it’s easy.
Next, I covered them with modge podge since they would be outside. I used glossy because that is what I had on hand.
That’s it!
Now for the FroNt DoOr MoNoGraM!
Supplies needed:
- Wood letter (I got mine from Robert’s for about $3)
- Sand paper or block
- Acrylic paint
- Modge podge
- Ribbon
I started by sanding my letter. Mine was primed so I had to rough it up a little. The plain wood letters would need a little smoothing.
Then, I painted it with two coats, modgepodged it, and tied the ribbon on.
Here they are all together. I have since moved the pots together by the right side of the door because they are small. (And I centered the rug, I know it is bugging someone out there that it is off centered.)

I love this! Now to figure out my signature color….Hmmm, I think red. I will post my pictures after I get it all together. Remind me if I slip =0)
